The grass needed mowing (a week ago)! The bathrooms are not well maintained. People ( not camping) are driving through the park at ALL hours, yet it is supposed to be closed after dark. It was just okay but I don’t think I would pay $60 to stay there again.

Overall, this was a nice campground. We chose the worst time of the year to go because of the unrelenting heat but that was on us. A few things to know: There is a train track immediately across the river from the campground. There is also a power plant next to the campground ON the river. Both of those things had a certain amount of noise associated with them. Had we ever been there, we would have chose our site more strategically placed to the two bathroom/shower houses at the campground but once again, that was on us. Hookups were placed well and functional and amenities were well placed and in good repair. The grass at the sites in the middle of the park was too high but seemed to have been cut recently at both the entrance and the very end. We had our dog and worried about walking him through the grass because of the unknown. had it been cut to a reasonable length, snakes and ticks and things would have been less likely. The only truly negative thing, however, was the presence of a capped syrette on the picnic table when we arrived. Should have been seen and disposed of by whomever checks on the sites post guest. Made us nervous about what we couldn't see in the taller grass. We stayed here on the way back home from a 40 night camping trip and it was conveniently located near our route home (I-40). We wouldn't hesitate to stay again if through there in the early spring or late fall. Be sure and check the park maps for the restroom locations if you are tent camping or, in our case, in a teardrop/expedition/hiker type trailer. It was a long walk to the facilities. It really is a nice park, there were just a few things we wished we had known before we booked it,

We stay here at least once a year and have always enjoyed our time at the park. Right now the area is experiencing a severe drought and the grass is dry along with a burn ban. It’s also been extremely hot so we haven’t been able to enjoy sitting outside and watching the barges go up and down the river. But it’s still been a good experience.

Very nice well kept park, no city or traffic noises at all. Yes it has a train track across the river but was fun to watch crossing the bridge. River barges pass by often another source of entertainment for the young and young at heart.
Lots of shade to be had if wanted, hard to not have a good site. I was in a MH on site B20 lots of shade on the water side.
If your in a MH you might consider not being on the water side so you can view the river out your windshield.
We had our motorcycle with us and rode 900 miles sightseeing during the week we stayed. Saw a blk bear at Mount Magazine, Enjoyed hiking at Petit Jean St park and riding the Pig Trail. Beautiful area hope to return and would stay here again!

Beautiful park. Train noise from across the river day and night. Other campers not on the water kept traipsing through our site and using our table while they took their kids fishing. We had to move our satellite antenna as they were right next to it.
