peaceful and on the river, mostly pine-shaded areas with plenty of space and separation for camping. Pine needles and grass on the ground, vs. dust/dirt and very clean, offers a nice departure of other campgrounds. Close to the town of Ozark with breweries, live music, shopping and a bit of history.

This would have been a 4 to 5 star rating,
BUT.....
Here's the good:
Beautiful location on the banks of the Arkansas River. Lots of trees throughout the park, amazing view, lots of birds of different types....
Wonderful setting! Loved it!!!
Well maintained & laid out sites, not packed too tight together . Bathrooms & showers clean and functional.
The park was not crowded at all in late January - only a few other campers. No raucous or rambunctious behavior.
The town of Ozark was very close - easy to get needed supplies (grocery store& Walmart)
On our first two days (Sat & Sun) the park was peaceful and serene...... Near perfect!!!!!
Now the Bad.....
- It got cold, real cold, over night, and the water supply was frozen each morning. It did thaw out by Noon to 1 pm. Not a Huge problem, easy to cope with, and staff offered to help us find a site where the water didn't freeze.
- Starting on Monday, there was this constant, 24 hour, vibrating, thrumming, throbbing droning sound coming from the Butterball Turkey plant up the river.
Completely destroyed the peaceful serenity of the park....
Very bothersome & inescapable.
Instead of staying for 2 weeks as we'd planned, we took off for elsewhere Tues AM.
It really ruined our experience

This is a great state park alongside the Arkansas River. The RV sites have lots of room and are well maintained.

You know you're staying in an unkempt campsite, when the people parked across from you went home and got a lawnmower to mow the grass in their area! When we first pulled into the campgrounds, it seemed ok... but the further we got down to the end (which is near where we were in #5) the worse the grounds got. The bathrooms were gross. Not sure who they have running the place, but they need to hire someone else for the job. We won't be back.
