We love this spot. Close enough to the mountain biking in Bentonville but right on a lake and, mid week at least, pretty quiet. Our loop didn’t have flush toilets nor showers which could be a put off for some. Decent shade on quite a few sites which was key as it was over 100 degrees every day of the 4 days we stayed in August.

I stayed at horseshoe bend after an open water swim with swimOZ at hwy 12 boat ramp. It was the night of the Perseids meteor shower and was hoping to see some! My camp sight was perfect - had a good view of the sky and saw a few- very cool! The campground was very clean and private.
There was lots of deer at the campground.

When we got to our site there was an RV setup with multiple cars right next to us. And they had a wire cage outside with 5 dogs in it and the cage stayed outside for the entirety of our stay. The dogs barked non-stop for 3 days till they left. The park was also under a burn ban but we noticed everyone around us all enjoying camp fires every day and night. Clearly there was no campground host here. If there was a host, they NEVER once came through checking on the camp. We never saw any park rangers come through either. Its really frustrating that we followed the rules while everyone else didn't. And our site, 133, did not have a pad for tent camping unless the 6 ft of gravel next to the cement table was the pad, which is way too small for 90 percent of tents. We had to setup our tent on the side of a hill right near the road so we were even closer to the inconsiderate people with terribly behaved dogs. I'll never go back to this campground, go elsewhere!

Great park! Large and lots of area to walk and ride bikes (if the weather wasn’t so hot!!). Many of the sites out on the peninsula have great water views and shade!
