What Guests Are Saying
Prairie Creek offers a beautiful and peaceful camping experience, with clean facilities and a lovely location by Beaver Lake, perfect for outdoor activities like boating and hiking. Many visitors appreciated the spacious sites, helpful staff, and the amenities available, including a marina and restaurant. However, some campers noted issues with poorly marked trails, uneven sites, and maintenance concerns, particularly with exposed hazards and cleanliness. Overall, it remains a favored destination for many.

The camp site was littered with paper; and the dogs in the nearby vicinity were NOT on leashes! The bathroom/showers were kept quite neat and clean at all times. There was a beautiful children's playground BUT most dog owners let their pets "do solid waste" on the gravel/sand area and did NOT pickup after themselves. Dogs should have an area to do their business or the park should insist they use doggie bags! Dogs and music were crazy every night but the park is kept quite groomed. Would recommend staying there but be aware of the dogs not on leashes and on the playground!

The parking spot for Campsite 107 is at an awful angle. Toilets could use some hand sanitizer and pest control. Honestly though the toilets were a lot better than I imagined, just a lot of gnats and flies when you open the lid. Would be nice to have some wipes or hand sanitizer available but I understand keeping those stocked/people stealing/people littering is a problem. Other than that we had a great time, Campsite 107 is wonderfully secluded from other campsites if you don’t mind the marina. Keep you cooler lids locked at night! There’s a tribe of raccoon thieves.

Sites are clearly marked, check in was easy. Shower house was clean and had good water pressure but not within easy walking distance to many of the campsites. Pit toilets were pretty awful. Choosing between nice views or bathroom proximity is a tough one.
Major challenge for our site is that it was marked as one for tent camping but didn’t have a designated spot for one - all other sites around us had a clearly marked, graveled, flat area for tents. Ours didn’t have a pad, other than for parking, and the site was too sloped in all other directions.

My advice: don't stay here. Lawns unmowed. Sherriff's deputies out twice, apparently on official business, to visit other campers. Homeless lady and two small children camped near bathrooms for days. On out last night it rained and in the morning my wife couldn't take a shower because the homeless mom was asleep with the children on the shower floor. Bathrooms were filthy for days at a time. Soiled diapers layed on the floor of the womens bathroom for a week; trash to include empty pizza boxes overflowed the mens trashcan. Showers were filthy and don't even think about the condition of the toilets. The ranger came through several times, and although we could clearly see that the homeless lady was there with trash all around her tent, the ranger somehow missed it. This place isn't safe and it's a pity that our tax money is being wasted in such a fashion.
