My wife and I had a very pleasant visit in our 36' motorhome in site 3 during the first two weeks of November '23. The weather was such that we ran the heater a bit but wasn't bad at all - perfect campfire nights. The leaves were beautiful -mostly turning colors and some were falling and I think I'll bring a leaf blower next time to keep things tidy. We didn't boat or play in the lake but it was nice to look at. Site 3 is adjacent to a set of gates to the road and are kept locked. These gates are the first thing you see approaching the campground and the actual entrance is a little further down the road and not visible from that point. Several first time visitors (myself included) stopped at these gates and many asked us how to get in. A very large sign for the houseboat rental down the road adds to the confusion. I think a sign on the gates directing visitors to continue a little further would be helpful. This campground is a reasonable distance (~13 miles) to Hot Springs and we made several trips to explore that town. In all, it was a very nice stay and we will probably be back when our travels take us through that area again.

Good campsite, very neat and well equipped, the showers are hot, the bathrooms were mostly clean and the air inside is heated.
A few tips for those that are camping at lot 2; if you are putting up a tent take note the ground it hard and pegs are difficult to hammer in, you cannot park your car close to the camp site, tey arrive during the day because it is not well sign posted and lit for navigating to your camping location during the evening

The view of the lake and fall foliage was beautiful! For us it was load at night with hunters camping next to us with multiple tents ! They were partying and talking loudly until almost midnight. So Do not go in Nov. Appeared no one was minding the restrooms. Nasty toilets and no toilet paper! Only decent one that wasn’t gross was the big one. We ended up leaving a day early due to conditions and eating the cost. BUT the worst was when we called to request to move to a diff site away from the Lou’s people, we were told all were reserved! There were several sites empty and no one ever came. We left Sunday afternoon and still were empty.

The campground was incredibly well-maintained and beautiful. We walked right from our spot, into the lake with our kayak (so cool!) and thoroughly enjoyed riding our hybrid bikes on the road and hiking our pups on the long trail that could be accessed inside the campground (what a perk!). No-shade spots were available on the other side of the swim beach and would be ideal for the colder months but ample full-shade spots exist for the warmer months. It is a wonderful park.

This is our favorite park on Lake Ouachita. We would REALLY like to see them add some gravel to the sites...most of the gravel is long gone and the pad is mostly dirt. An upgrade to the cell service would also be great! Not to miss it Hickory Nut Mountain road just outside the park. Beautiful Vista view over the lake from the top of the road!
