Crystal Springs (AR)

Half of the 240 volt power at our electrical hook up did not work so half of the items in our camper did not work without propane, including our water heater and refrigerator. I did check the outlet with a multimeter and verify the problem was with the outlet and not my camper. This problem was exacerbated by the fact that the hot water did not work in the women's shower. The sink in the women's bathroom also did not work and the sink in the breezeway on the men's side also did not work. All of this was reported to the rangers (who were very polite) but they informed us that maintenance staff would not make repairs on the weekend. This is a very beautiful and popular campground that is clearly not being well kept.

Beautiful water views and quiet campground

There was no soap in the bathrooms, the sink in the women's restroom didn't work, and there was no hot water in the showers. Also, I know it's a small thing, but if you're traveling in a large group, you will want to know. The fire pit is placed in the corner of an elevated gravel rectangle which means there isn't room for campers to sit in a complete circle around the fire. Only a fraction of our camping group were able to sit close to the fire.

We were trying to stay closer to Hot Springs but we couldn't find a spot. Thankfully we stumbled on Crystal Springs Campground. We stayed at a tent only site, #18, and it was right on the waterfront and it was very spacious. The other sites were packed pretty close together though.
Overall I was pleased with our stay. I even caught a pickerel on my second or third cast. That was fun. Being from the north I thought it was a northern but after reading a little realized that was not the case.

Beautiful view. Great site, except there was quite a bit of poison ivy around the camp site.

Beautiful place to camp

Camp spots 47 and 48 are great spots if you’re camping with 2 campers in your group. The only downside is the exposed tree roots
that are above ground which makes walking around camp very dangerous especially at night.

A great campground especially if you have children. There’s a swim beach and easy to tie boats up by your camp site. Although they don’t have sewer hook ups, the dump site is close. The spots by the water are gorgeous but a little close to each other.

We love camping at Crystal! Why I put the “good” rating is because Site #B 30 needs much more gravel due to rain storms flooding that site. It’s only site 30. Otherwise I would have put Excellent! Thanks for keeping the sites in good shape.
