I tried several times to reach out to the site with questions and could never get in touch with anyone, I left several messages. I tried calling to rent a boat and no one would answer. We missed the first night of our reservation because we were getting a late start and tried calling to see what time they closed the gate and again couldn’t get in touch with anyone so we didn’t go for fear of being locked out. When we got there a day late there is no one at the entry to answer questions, no directions on how to find your campsite or access any of the amenities, you are completely on your own. When we got to the campsite, it was all on a hill and there was no flat place to set up the tent so we had to sleep at an incline. Finally the lake was so low so there was no way to access it without a boat which had no reservations available because we could not call ahead and get anyone to answer. It was over a hundred degrees every day with no relief. We finally had to drive 45 minutes to another location every day to go swim in a different lake and enjoy the outdoors and return to our campsite after 7:00 when it finally started to cool down. The other half of our party left early because they were miserable. Overall the trip sucked.

Besides the power outage on a 100 degree weather weekend, which meant toilets and showers were closed, it was still a very bad experience. There was also no camp hosts or rangers.
That meant bad behavior by folks playing loud music, not just music, loud music till midnight. Neighbors were also talking loudly with lots of profanity all night.
We planned to stay the weekend, but after one night of little sleep we left early. I'm sure it I hope not everybody will be so disrespectful, but with no camp host or ranger... Good luck...

Restrooms and showers were locked and had to use ports potties. Quiet hours were not enforced, generators and parties kept us from sleeping.

Looks great for boating but that's about it. Nothing else there and hard for the kids to swim or really do anything. That being said I did go when it was 108 degrees and use a walk to camp site.

Other than one night where group camping in 4 spots let their kids run right thru your camp it was good. Much better facilities than New Hogan lake. The bathroom when open was spotless for a campground.

No access to water to swim unless you have a boat. They moved our sites cause the bathrooms were closed and none of the water spikets were working anywhere near us. We had no warning that they were doing prescribed burns and we had people with asthma. The bathroom right next to us (we were in a handicap campsite right next to it) were locked at 6am the day we were do to leave. And led to us leaving early because we were tired of dealing with it.

The campground was nice an clean, the process of getting in was easy. I was disappointed the water was so far away, even if the lake was full it would not be easy to get to. It's definitely a place to go with a boat so you can be on the water. We also had issues with the toilets (that were nice enough) not working two days we were there. This was a pretty big inconvenience, they did bring in porta potties but that wasn't what shoulda been. It's not a do over place for us.

Great spot with great views. Convenient for short trips to Angel’s Camp, Sonora and Columbia State Park. Facilities were minimised due to COVID, but WCs were clean and usable. Water spigots at the campground ran dry after the first night which was inconvenient. Looking for a decent place to bathe and swim in the lake was the most challenging aspect of the trip.
