I really enjoyed staying at Group Campground 3! The site is well-maintained, and I appreciated how park staff come by daily to empty trash cans and the recycling bin. When camping in a group, you create a lot of trash, so having those bins regularly cleared makes a big difference.
The main reason I rated it four stars instead of five is because of the water faucet at our campsite. Most of the other faucets in the area have newer, easy-turn handles with strong water pressure. Ours had the old, stiff twist knobs that were slow and tough on the fingers, which made filling jugs or washing dishes frustrating. I often walked over to the faucet near the restroom just to get water faster.
In terms of scenery, I would personally rank the group campgrounds like this:
Group Campground 1 – Best scenery and most privacy
Group Campground 2 – Beautiful and a close second
Group Campground 3 – Still nice, but the least scenic of the three
Privacy-wise, Group Campground 1 feels the most secluded. Campgrounds 2 and 3 are closer to each other and share the same type of restroom.
Speaking of restrooms, these are vault toilets (non-flush, waste goes into a holding tank). They’re what you’d expect for camping—no flushing and not the most pleasant smell, though not unbearable. I’d rate the smell around 4–5 out of 10 depending on the wind. Bringing a small air freshener can help. If flush toilets are important, some of the non-group campsites might have them.
One thing we enjoyed was seeing squirrels and a few raccoons. It was fun for the kids, but make sure not to leave food out overnight. Either store it in your car or throw away anything you’re done with, because wildlife will come by to check for snacks.
Overall, even with the minor faucet and restroom drawbacks, I would still recommend Group Campground 3 for a fun group camping experience. The cleanliness, upkeep, and little wildlife sightings made it a great stay!

The hosts, William and Lisa, were very helpful, friendly and responsive. We went for one night and were able to stay for two, thanks to their diligence in letting us know about another site available for two nights (before setting up our tent).
The campground was mostly quiet and the bathrooms were well kept. The location is ideal for a weekend getaway, off the beaten path and close to beaches.

One of the best sites in my opinion. There is no other site next to you really with the amount of trees surrounding the site making it feel more remote. The tent pad is large and flat and can definitely accommodate an 8 person tent or two 4 person tents side by side (we had a 6 person tent). The short path between the parking spot and the actual site is on an incline. A water spigot and bathroom are very close by just past where you park.
Overall, this is an awesome campsite and one of our favorite places to camp. We were there during the week and had no issues with people not following the rules and the campsite was kept very clean. The sinks the bathrooms are not operational and once during our stay the bathrooms ran out of toilet paper but it was quickly restocked later that day.
Be advised we did see multiple raccoons active in the campsite once it got dark. Also skunks but it could also be because site 33 is at the edge.

The drive-through the campground is pretty tight, so if you have a large RV, you can pretty much forget about this campground. Otherwise it’s a beautiful place. The campground hosts were delightful, friendly, and courteous. The campground Road is full of potholes, though, which could use some attention from the state of California.
