The campground, facilities, and site was clean. The location is fantastic - in a bit of a sheltered area across the road from the beach, although you could still see the ocean in some parts. Some surfers camp here. The interior camp sites are pretty close together with no natural barriers between the sites, so could hear some loud conversations and snoring of nearby tents. It's like camping on a big lawn, and due to no natural barriers, people seemed to have NO qualms about walking right through the middle of your camp site. There are also no tent pads. You can mostly find a mostly level place for a tent but not completely. Also both mornings we were here there where service trucks backing down the service road (BEEP...BEEP...BEEP) - which sort of ruins the ambiance. Given all that, I'd readily camp here again.

Plaskett is a great camping place along the Big Sur coast. Unfortunately, they allow overflow campers to just set up in the middle area of the campground. Which puts extra pressure on campers adjacent to that area, with the overflow campers crossing through campsites to reach facilities and water. They should just issue permits for the sites actually available and send the others on their merry way.

Camp grounds are very well kept with clean restrooms. Camp host helpful and had a plentiful supply of firewood. All campers respecting the quiet time at night. Short walk across Hwy 1 to Sand Dollar Beach. There's a steep stairway down to the beach but well worth the effort. Jsut up the coast are places for watching Condors and then a little further up the coast is Monterey Bay. Easy to go up and back in a day. Gray whales were cruising just off the coastline while we were there for this trip.
