The majority of sites in this campground do not have any shade. The only shaded areas are down by the creek. Sun is merciless, even in the early summer. That said, it is a gateway to wonderful hiking area. As long as you don't plan to be in the camp during the day it is lovely. Leave early, come home at dusk. Sites are large, and vary greatly with ability to pitch a level tent. Cheers!

Four Jeffrey is well-located for hikers who want to visit the many lakes and trails in the North Lake, Lake Sabrina, and South Lake Basins. It's a nice campground with very attentive hosts. The one drawback is most sites are not level, making it difficult to pitch a tent or level an RV, or sit keep a beverage glass from tipping over on the picnic table. We could find a cell signal at campsite 62 so ventured there every few days as needed.

The issue of whether or not the campground would be closed due to road improvements was very stressful as we tried to plan for our trip. I feel the administration handled the situation very poorly by not keeping us in touch with the possibility of not being able to fulfill our reservation. I feel the campground should have just been considered closed for the summer and not accepted any reservations especially when the road conditions were so indefinite.
