What Guests Are Saying
Grasshopper Flat Campground offers a spacious and well-maintained environment with beautiful lake views and clean facilities, thanks in large part to the attentive camp host, Patty. Visitors appreciated the quiet atmosphere and large campsites, along with nearby amenities such as a general store. However, some concerns were raised about bear activity, restroom cleanliness, and campsite spacing, which could detract from the experience for some campers.

Enjoyed the campground but was a little put off on the parking rules eg: my brother who had a spot ad couldn’t walk was not able to just park at my spot for a little bit without paying extra even though I only had my tv in the spot

We reserved two campsites for our group camping trip. One of the sites was on a hill so most folks wanted to stay at the site that was located on a flat area. The camp host told us if we didn’t camp at one of the sites than we would lose it, even if we paid for it and reserved it. Absolutely made no sense. Then the folks camping next to us were blasting Lord Huron all night… not like a cycle of their songs, just the same two songs over and over again. We went to bed around 11 and people were screaming at another camp site until 1 and the lord Huron folks set their Tesla truck off 3 times at 3 in the morning. This was the noisiest most annoying campground we have stayed at by far. I would pick somewhere else before I came back here. To top it off, when we awoke in the morning, the Tesla truck folks blasted Lord Huron again at 8 in the friggin morning.

Site 27 has excellent water access, but also meant other campers were going through the site. Flat options for tents were limited. They were having water issues the weekend we were there, so no potable water available. They had bottled water for free or directed us to a nearby campground to fill containers. No bear lockers available, but apparently there was bear activity so we had to stash food in our cars under a blanket. No issues there.

All I can say is Recreation.gov is horrible! I needed to switch campsites and with the full approval of the camp host but Recreation.gov stole my payment!

Really liked the campsite and proximity to the lake but having no bear boxes and bears in the campsite every night was not ideal.

Loop 1, space 9. Beautiful and CLEAN! Appears all sites have a lot of room/space and very private. Quarter showers were clean!!! Patty, our camp host was the best! She provided us with a ton of information and was always so kind. She is the BEST!

We had a wonderful time! Site 9 has a level spur and one or two level areas for tents but the fire pit area is on a hill, which is awkward. The host is SO KIND and wonderful at her job. Other campers observed quiet hours w their generators. I love exploring this area of california. It is beautiful. No motor boats allowed on the lake so its very peaceful. Sites are quite large. Multiple bathrooms and a coin shower available. However, I really wish they had bear boxes!!! This encourages responsible camping. Bc there are bears in the area, we had to pack up the truck every day. One of us has a back injury and the other has a should injury so this was a real pain that bear boxes would help with (we had to unload the truck each day to take it out exploring.) We will be back!

The campsite host was very nice and helpful. The campsites we clean and everyone was friendly. A lot of knots at night but no bees. Coming back

This site was too sloped to be great for setting up a tent, though many other spots in our loop looked fine. We were disappointed to see the restrooms with running water were out of order. Instead there were portapotties that were badly in need of service and out of toilet paper. We decided to enjoy the lake for the day and then just head home.

The camp ground is very nice and well maintained, buy it would be great to have metal bear boxes at each site as there are definitely bears roaming the grounds at night. The area is excellent (lake, woods, trails)!
