What Guests Are Saying

Dark Day Campground is a beautiful site surrounded by trees, offering great swimming opportunities. However, it requires a downhill hike from parking to the campsites, and amenities like vault toilets need improvement. Visitors noted issues with noise from large groups and broken facilities, but many expressed a desire to return for a quieter experience.

Campground have no trailer access, parking is far from the actual site and downhill. Our campsite 10a had a horrible table that was mostly rotten .

Large individual sites, plenty of room. Areas for tents had been swept of pine needles.
Site is steep, breathtaking to walk up and down. Lake access not worth it, rocky and danger from speed boats.

We had a fabulous experience. It is absolutely beautiful there. The only downsides were how low the water levels had dropped (making it further away from the campsites) and the bathrooms were disgusting. There were too many flies to even attempt to use them. Recommend bringing a portable toilet. Also, it was a peaceful experience until a very large, loud crowd of people showed up to camp on our last night there. Still, we had an amazing time and will definitely go there again.

Great little cluster of camp sites. Close to boat launch. Parking situation was good, with extra over-flow parking. Great bear-proof food locker. Nice fire pit. Bathroom was extra smelly, so we opted to walk up the hill to the “nice” potty. Lol. It was much cleaner! The other campers around us were friendly and respectful, too. Our site wasn’t well marked so it took a bit of exploring to figure it out. One site had no picnic table, and ours was rotten, so we used the table top with a sturdy tablecloth, but never sat on the bench seats. (We had our own chairs around the fire pit.) Overall, we liked it and had a great time!

Great campsite in a great location! From camp 5 you have some sneaky views at the reservoir and a nice peak at the sky through the trees. The camp is also a bit more removed from the other sites so it’s peaceful.

However, it definitely is a popular spot. There was 2 large groups of campers who partied until about 1am. Not ideal when quiet hours start at 10, and you’re ideally trying to enjoy time away from the city and the noise.

We have been here before a few times and it has always been great, the campground is nice and doesn’t have too many sites.
That being said, the day use area and campground was loud and annoying at times with constant yelling from kids and adults even until 3am not to mention fireworks at about 11 at the day use area nearby. So just be aware that if you’re doing a weekend stay that it may be pretty crowded, that people may be trying to party, be up late and loud. Go during the week with less people and enjoy the lake otherwise it’s a nice area to get away for a night or two.

Water is too low for access from the campsite area. Some people were also up all night doing drugs in the day use area being loud. On the upside bullards trail is nice and very close, caught a couple fish and had the whole camp area to ourselves for 3 nights.

No Show Policy
A no-show customer is one who does not arrive at a campground and does not cancel the reservation by check-out time on the day after the scheduled arrival date (or for day-use facilities, by check-in time the day of arrival).
* No-show customers are only recorded at staffed facilities. At most remote facilities, all customers are noted as automatically checked-in on the date of arrival.
* It is recommended that staffed facilities hold a campsite until check-out time on the day following the arrival date.
* It is recommended that staffed facilities hold group day-use facilities until check-in time on the arrival date.
There is no change fee if a customer extends or shortens a reservation if the change includes dates from the original reservation. If they choose to depart early, they may forfeit some or all of the recreation fees.
There is no change fee if the customer changes campsites that are the same price and on the same reservation dates in the same campground. If the campsite the customer is changing to has a price difference, the customer will be responsible for any additional fees or be provided with a refund, based on the price difference.
Where recorded, no-show customers are assessed a $20.00 no-show fee and forfeit the first night's recreation fee for a campsite or forfeit the entire day-use recreation fee for a day-use facility. We recommend customers contact the facility if they are en route to their reservation but cannot make it by the check-in date. In these cases, no refund will be issued, but the facility can ensure that a "no-show" fee is not assessed.
