The campground is very easy to find and navigate. Our specific campground, 035, is closest to the trash bin and restrooms, which were clean and well-maintained. It's a decent walk to the campground store and showers, but there's a small nature path that leads to a small bridge over a stream and takes you to the store in half the time. We very much enjoyed our stay at our specific campsite and campground. We would definitely stay here again.

We love Convict Lake Campground and have visited twice in August. It's quite cool at the high elevation with the exception of a couple hours mid-day. The lake is conveniently close to the campground. We rented a boat, had a great experience at the rental office. The personnel are very helpful. The facilities are well maintained although there are no showers. Laundromat is close by at the neighboring resort that also has an amazing store where you can buy fishing tackle, beer, wine or anything else you need.

This site was across the street from a very clean bathroom. The Mountain View was incredible but site 81 had no sites in front of them so they had an even better view of the mountains

We recently camped at Convict Lake, and it was an unforgettable experience. The weather hovered right around 32°F, which made for a true winter camping adventure. While it was chilly, the stunning scenery—snow-dusted mountains reflecting off the calm lake—was absolutely worth bundling up for.
The campground was impeccably clean, which is always a huge plus for us. You could tell the facilities are well-maintained, making the cold-weather stay much more comfortable. A special shout-out goes to the staff, who were incredibly helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to [insert specific example, e.g., "provide extra firewood" or "give us tips on the best hiking trails"], and their warmth made all the difference on a cold day.
Whether you're fishing, hiking, or just soaking in the views, Convict Lake is a gem. We can't wait to come back in the summer to see the contrast!

Convict Lake Campground is about 34 miles north of Bishop, California on Highway 395. From Bishop, travel north on 395. The turnoff to the campground is across from Mammoth Yosemite Airport and is well-signed. From Mammoth Lakes, travel on Highway 395 south for 5 miles. Turn west off of Highway 395.

General
- No electricity, water or sewer site hookups
- Reservations are site-specific. Changing campsites after arrival is prohibited
- No ATVs or ORVs allowed in the facility
- Convict Lake is a no-wake lake
- Generators allowed only during non-quiet hours; three-hour maximum run time and must be attended while running
- Day use parking is adjacent to the campground
- Two dogs are allowed and must be leashed
- This is a high elevation facility; please use caution when traveling from lower elevations; campground usually not clear of snow until late May or early June
- Be bear aware; keep all food out of site in approved containers or locked inside your vehicle and remove all food from area after eating; always keep a clean camp and do not feed any wild animals
- Please Note: One RV with tow vehicle per single site or one vehicle per tent site. Most sites can accommodate 1 extra vehicle that is not included with the reservation fee. Extra vehicle will be charged a per night fee and collected at the campground.
- Fire Restrictions: Fire restrictions may be imposed at any time due to hot, dry weather conditions, at which time campfires and charcoal fires may not be allowed.
- Reserved Sites will be held until the day following your arrival date. Sites must be occupied by the checkout time of that following day to hold a reservation or the site will be forfeited and released to other guests. Once your reservation start date has begun, neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager will be able to modify your reservation.
- Don't Move Firewood: Protect California's forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. For more information visit firewood.ca.gov.
