We were at campsite #2. This is a great site. Shaded over the tent only, everything else had very little shade. The lake is within walking distance. We also walked around the lake. The only thing I want to say that is negative is that this site is not a 2 tent site. Luckily it was just us, but I don’t see where you could have another tent.

We have spent two summers at this campsite, and we love the location. It is close to the reservoir and hiking trail. It is very quiet and allows for a relaxing weekend.

Campground was clean. Good site near the water. Great campground for families. Really needs a campground host. Sharing the host with the other campground doesn't really work. Lots of trees cut down, many sites lost shade and hammock trees.

Campsites 7 was way too small for most tents larger than a 2 person tent there is a small hill above the campsite you can put the ten on but everything will be slanted. Also from the hours of 8 am to 1:00pm there is no shade whatsoever. During the summer months either bring a canopy or plan to be at the lake very early. Other campsites looked better than number 7 but most had minimal space or no shade.

Zero privacy, day use occupants leave trash everywhere, boat ramp is crowded by day use people! This use to be a crystal clear lake. Now it has a green tint to the water, due to contamination.

Many trees have been removed and chipped in the Giant Gap campground. Instead of a trail to the lake from campsites, you now have a sawdust beach that is very thick. On the positive side, more sites now have lake views. Birdlife was amazing, and not crowded at main beach May 31-June 1. No Host at Giant Gap. Host was at Shirttail. Don't know why. Lots of firewood for gathering.

Campsite #27 at Giant Gap is a solid tent-only site with all the classic Giant Gap perks: easy access to Sugar Pine Reservoir, a peaceful forest setting, and the convenience of nearby amenities like vault toilets, drinking water, picnic tables, fire rings, and a bear box. The campsites are well equipped, and the lake is a dream to paddle on. Always love camping here and look forward to coming back.

Beautiful campsite and view of lake. Only thing was lots of shooting in the nearby forest areas, but I would still come back.

the location by the lake is great, we had the whole campground to ourselves. I think it being the end of the camping season and kids going back to school made for the emptiness of campground. Being in the foothills of the Sierras is awesome in itself. There is no connectivity to internet, phones or hookups at the camp sites, but that is the beauty.

From Interstate 80, take the Auburn/Ravine Road exit. Continue east for 17 miles to Foresthill. Travel through town, about 9 miles, to Forest Road 10/Sugar Pine Road. Turn left and drive 9 miles, crossing a boat ramp and the dam, to the Sugar Pine Campground. Turn right and continue over a mile to the campground.
Giant Gap Campground is accessible from Interstate 80, which is approximately 17 miles to the west via Auburn/Ravine Road.

Policies & Rules
General
- *** Large single unit RVs are not suitable for the campground roads. Even though a site might have a 40 foot parking space, a 40 foot long RV can’t navigate through the campground. Also please remember that site parking length includes trailer and vehicle.***
- Water Faucets: • While safe to drink, the potable water in the campground has a high iron content and visitors may wish to bring their own drinking water. • Visitors may not connect hoses to faucets for sanitation concerns. • Faucets are meant for drinking water only. For sanitation reasons there can be no bathing or cleaning at faucets. • All grey water must be properly disposed of at the dump station. Trash: • Trash should be placed in dumpsters. If the dumpsters are full then trash must be properly stored in a bear box until the dumpster is emptied, or can be taken to the nearest dumpster. This is to avoid wildlife getting in the trash and dispersing it through the forest. • Make sure to properly close/lock dumpsters to avoid wildlife getting in the trash. Campsite: • Camp only in designated camping areas. Areas beyond the campground could have hazard trees. • Only park in designated parking spaces. Parking off of pavement in camping areas is prohibited. • No parking in or blocking road ways. • Keep food in bear boxes at all times. • If visitors need to hang things they can use rachets straps or bungees. Using screws, nails, and staples is prohibited. • Stapling into the preparation tables and/or picnic tables is prohibited due to the damage it causes. • Cutting or damaging standing trees is prohibited. • Collecting dead wood is highly encouraged. Visitors must have a wood cutting permit to cut wood on the ground. • DAY USE: • NO Swimming on or around the boat dock/ ramp. Swimmers must stay 100 feet away at all times to keep a safe distance from boat traffic. • Park in designated parking spots. No parking along painted curbs or by boat ramp. • All vehicles must pay for day use parking at the Sugar Pine Day Use Area. The $5.00 Day use parking is not included in the camping fee. Fire restrictions may be imposed at any time due to hot, dry weather conditions, at which time campfires and charcoal fires may not be allowed. - This is not Sugar Pine Point State Park
- Don't Move Firewood: Protect California's forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. For more information visit firewood.ca.gov.
- Off-road vehicle use is prohibited within Sugar Pine Complex, except for in the staging area, at the turnoff to Big Reservoir, such as Sugarpine OHV and Parker Flat.
