Always enjoy the camping trips to Headquarters Campground. Nice and clean makes it a pleasure to go back year after year. The fellow campers are always good or I've just been lucky every time.

So our timing was strange and we drove in a a short time after the Windy Fire started. This is our FAVORITE Kern River Campground. Great sites, clean bathrooms, and our favorite ever camp host, Mark and his dog Ms Pickles. So we camped in pretty wild conditions, the southern edge of the fire was only 18 miles away. We felt well informed on everything rated to the fire, safe, and were still able to make the best of it with a clear blue sky day in the River. Always recommend this campground.
