I’m someone who uses the satellite to pick a site and this site was way too close to the road for our family with little kids. Another site was basically where our site is on the website map. We spend a lot of time at the site so I’m very careful when choosing and I was disappointed. Otherwise the Kern River area is a blast. Loved the Trail of 100 Giants.

Really pretty campground with lots of access to the Kern River and a short drive to Kernville, Many people and families fishing. Excellent welcoming hosts helpful and they keep the entire campground very clean. There is a lot of sun so you may want to bring a canopy or shelter.

Great location. Right next to the river which cools off the area a little bit. Will definitely be back.

The site was nice, but the restroom by our site was closed for repair.

I was in site 29 and went on my first solo car camping trip. It was great! The camp host was very nice and the grounds were clean. This site is close to the river and has a small trail from the campsite down to the creek that runs behind it. I spent a good chunk of my day there due to limited shade and high temps during my trip. I would definitely recommend packing some kind of pop up shade. My only complaint is the location of the bear box, it is directly in the afternoon sun for several hours and turns into an oven. Make sure to either pack/get extra ice or check in with the host to ask about bear activity in the area. Thankfully they hadn’t started coming down yet so I just kept my cooler next to me in the shade in the afternoon. Otherwise a great trip! Quiet and peaceful.

the campsite is relatively small so the sites are pretty close to each other. site 24 was flat, decently sized and close to the bathrooms. across the opposing sites is the river which is soooo beautiful. you can hear the water running at night which is nice. the camp host is also super friendly and helpful!
