The sites were large and nice. We stayed over for a quick night before going on a rafting trip. The sites are right along the highway and we could definitely hear cars roaring by during the night while tent camping. We left in the morning but I would also note that some sites have more shade than others and if you’re planning to be there a few days I would definitely want some shade.

Campgrounds were clear brush , bathrooms clean and well stocked. The Camp host Candice was super nice and helpful with some great advice on fishing spots! Thank you Candice!

We had a great time at Headquarters campground. Our trip was Mon.-Wed. and it was very calm and clean. Not too many people and the few camping neighbors that were there were quiet and respectful. We had campsites 21 & 22 and they were perfect. 22 is next to the water with a small beach area. The river was calm allowing us to swim and explore a lot more than we could have wished for. Water was cold but not freezing like other times and it was clear. We loved it and can't wait to come back. Two night was not enough!

We had a very nice week at Headquarters Campground. Our campground host did a great job keeping everything clean. The water level was perfect for floating in our inner tubes. Definitely recommend tick prevention for humans and pets. We had 3 tick encounters, two had to be removed with a tick removal kit. They were not felt by the victims and were very tough to pull out. Just be prepared and do tick checks daily. We'll be back next summer!

We’ve been camping at Kern for over 55 years it’s perfect for families that what to get away but not too far from home. We are 3 hours away. Growing up 3 times a year best place ever
