I was there during a very hot weekend. It was still a nice, relaxed setting for a campout. The area was pleasant, each camp/rv spot had a bear locker and a big iron firepit/grill. There were a lot of nice trees, and the restrooms (both flush toilets and not) seemed reasonably well kept. I will say one thing I didn't realize before we went. There is a train that runs fairly nearby and the noise kept my kids up most of the night that first night, so if you're sensitive to that sort of thing, plan ahead and bring ear plugs.

Booked here anticipating views of Lake Shasta. Was surprised to find the lake was almost dry due to drought. Campsite near ours was occupied by disappointed men who had driven up from San Diego to fish.

Well maintained and convenient campground with beautiful views of the lake from the back of the campground. As others mention, it is close to the I-5 highway (convenient) but can also be a bit noisy in the evening. There is also a train that comes through a few times a day but we were usually away from camp when that happened 2 of 3 days. Campsites are good sized with easy access to water and bathrooms. Some sites are very big and can easily accommodate larger groups. There is some tree cover but you should absolutely bring a canopy or shade cover in case your site has some thinner tree cover.

When we arrived our campsite was occupied. I took over an hour to figure out with the host what was going on. Finally someone kept staying on our reserved campsite, we were given another people’s campsite. Later on those people arrived and another confusion arose...Briefly saying it was total host’s fu... fiasco.

Stayed at campsite #59, not near the bluff and right off the main road, but was very large and far away from the other camps. The railroad is right next to the campsite, so be prepared to hear trains roll by during the night. Bathrooms and facilities were incredibly nice and clean! Trashcans and water spigots at every other campsite. Would've been nice to have a box for recycling though and not just trash. We went to the Antlers Privately owned RV park and market one night (1 mi North- you can walk, but we drove). They have ice cream and food and any last minute items you need (like aloe if you got sunburnt or a deck of card you forgot on your kitchen table at home). A very nice campsite if you're trying to explore the area around Lake Shasta, but will definitely get a houseboat on the lake next time.
