What Guests Are Saying
Lower Billy Creek offers a peaceful and beautiful camping experience with friendly hosts and clean facilities. Campers appreciate the proximity to the lake for swimming, fishing, and stunning views, though shade is limited due to recent tree removal. While some noted a decline in maintenance and a challenging access road, the overall atmosphere is family-friendly and enjoyable, making it a favorite spot for many.

We have been bring up our MeerKat Trailer to Lower Billy Creek for years! Love the lakefront view of Huntington Lake, and the astronomy and fishing on Dam #3. The the hike to Rancheria Waterfall was stunning...love the Red Fir Forest.

Well kept campground right next to the lake. However, couple of things about campsite #5. It is right next to the bathroom. The light is constantly on throughout the night. I think it may be the only site without any trees, so it’s pretty exposed throughout the day. We still had a great time renting a boat for half a day at China Peak and hiking to Rancheria Falls.

The lake was right in front of my campsite . I’ve camped here before and even with fire and flood the tranquility remains. There are a lot of chipmunks so keep your food in the bear locker , I didn’t use my phone much but service was ok. The tree that used to be at this site has been removed so if you want shade bring a pop or umbrella. The tree cutters were up and Adam at 7 am but I suppose they were clearing dead wood for safety reasons. One of my favorite places to be! It gets a little chilly in late May early June still so make sure to bring your warm gear. My little pup loved his morning/evening walks. It can get a little breezy too. Bathrooms were clean and well lit. Bring your own tp in case there isn’t any in there. All in all enjoyable . The lake is cold but bring your life jackets swimwear and kayaks, you can leave it right in front of the campsite or at the water. And the fishing is great too don’t forget your license

The camp site is great overall. I've been going there three times per year for a very long time. However, the last two years, and especially this year, the care and cleanliness of the camp has declined drastically. Bottom line is, either the camp is short staffed, or the quality of staff is very poor.
On a positive note, I very much appreciate the people who seem to frequent this camp. It seems the late night, loud music playing, loud cussing types, stay at the other end of the lake or down at Shaver; fortunately. Some of us still value a courteous and quite camp, geared around kids and peace. I hope this does not change any time soon.

This was the first time I tent camped at Lower Billy Campground, and it was wonderful. All the sites were clean. No loud crowds in the evenings. Bathrooms were well managed. I loved the fact that the lake is very close to half the sites. I had a great time and highly recommend this campground.

August 2024. lake was full and small beach/swimming area 30 to 40 ft from camp. Not much shade, bring a canopy. Room for two tents. maybe three. ground is level and accessible. Next door to Day use area, but it is empty on weekdays. Short drive to marina and fishing from the west dam, caught 2 rainbows...
