Great experience. Big camp sites. Lots of shade. Excellent location which is next to lake and many hiking trails nearby.

Very clean campsite. All have been revamped and had excellent fire pits, storage lockers, and tables. Camp host did a great job of keeping the restroom clean. Our campsite had a view of the lake and was a very short walk to the water, even though we were across the street from the lake. Really enjoyed our time.
The only drawback was a group came in late, after 11 pm, and promptly started to party, terribly loud music seemed to have gone on for hours. The camp host was not aware as their site was a distance away from the partiers.

women liked the super nice restrooms. Upper Billy was quiet and well maintained. A little walk down to the water but not bad.

We hiked to Rancheria Falls, and it was a nice easy hike with some great views of the waterfall. We also greatly enjoyed our tour of the history museum right across the street from the campground.

The camp host was extremely friendly and helpful getting us to our site and pointing out the camp features. The campsite was very clean when we arrived. Had a great location close to the lake and the facilities. Easy access in and out as well.

This is a very nice campground and there is lots of shade at many of the campsites unlike other campgrounds around Huntington Lake that have lost so many trees. The toilets are spread out further so there is more of a walk to reach them but the water spigots and trash cans are nicely placed. The camp hosts were friendly and attentive and kept everything very clean. There is a small creek at the edge of the campground that is great for kids to play at. The lake is a short 5 minute walk away but you do have to cross the main road. In late July, mosquitoes were only a very minor problem for a short time at dusk.

We really enjoyed our camping trip. It's very unfortunate that the forest service has decided again this year to exclude Rancheria campground at Huntington Lake. (same area) Last year it was closed so they could clear out the dead trees. I guess they have slow chainsaws. Closed this year also. Not Recreation.gov fault. Is it?
We can't view our past reservations online.
Was asked for this review and they are about 6 months overdue. They did state next time it would be within a few weeks.
We and our friends have a fault with Recreation.gov or the forest service. The online maps are NOT drawn accurately. Not talking about 'to scale' but for the last couple of years the maps are not drawn accurately. Roads do not match with sites, no roads shown, no restroom locations, no hosts sites, missing sites. Someone should be shown the door and out!
Please fix it. It's the users experience that powers this Recreation.com. I would give them a 2 out of 10.
Thanks

The site was not too crowded and the host were super considerate when it came to noise levels, since we had 5 kids on site. Restrooms were clean and the lake was close by

I love Huntington Lake, I have been coming as a child, and my dad came since he was in high school. We now all come with family and friends from all over CA! Though, Upper Billy is where we ALWAYS stayed as kids. This year we finally got back up there and up in the upper loop. Though, now our secret sanctuary has been found! Don't get me wrong, its still amazing and so great. BUT, we felt like the camp sites are just too on top of each other. It's so hard feeling like your enjoying the outdoors with everyone on top of you. But regardless, its just great to be up away from the road. The bathrooms were great, they were cleaned often, just a little early sometimes to be blowing the windblower.
We'll be back, we always are!

We visited at the beginning of August 2019 and stayed for 3 wonderful nights. We were in site 015 in Upper Billy Creek. It was the perfect site. No neighbors really, and next to the creek.
