Oh Ridge

Love the lake and all its beauty it’s just too bad the campgrounds have gone to hell. Don’t get me wrong most of the people that work there are great.

1. The driveway in campsite Bear loop 1 is decrepit. So many chunks of asphalt have broken off it’s hard to get 4 wheels on it. Also it’s bulging up so it’s like going over multiple speed bumps when you back in to the campsite you paid for.

2. There is no bathroom in the loop, so you have to walk 200 yards to Gull loop to use the facilities. However prepare to wait in the morning due to their only being 1 stall and 1 urinal. In the past we would just drive down to the beach and use the restrooms but now the beach area parking lot is closed until 7am…which brings me to #3.

3. We pay to camp at Oh Ridge because of the June Lake beach. Well guess what? If you want to park at the beach it now costs $10/day. In other words, even though you’re paying to camp there you also have to pay for the day use area. Never heard of that. It punishes the campers as people who aren’t camping there pay the same amount.

You are allowed to walk down there for free however many campers such as ourselves have paddle boards, kayaks, cabanas, etc… and there is no way you can walk all of that down to the beach…remember the beach is only reason we pay to camp there.

Since the day use is now restricted, you have workers racing around in golf carts checking to make sure everyone has paid and that they don’t block anyone (they won’t let you wait for someone to pull out, even if your not blocking anyone). I’ve been treated better by airport security waiting to pickup someone at the airport. And I’m paying extra for this cluster.

Most of the workers are nice and sympathetic. The lake is beautiful. The new fees for the day use area is a money grab by the government while the facilities are not being upgraded which have been long overdue.

Loved staying here and especially in squirrel loop, where the path down to the beach is just right there. Beautiful views. The sites were a little small and not a lot of shade but we appreciated that people were quiet around us and at night. Bathrooms were very clean but showers not available at the resort next door.

The staff was helpful and the park was very clean. This area is beautiful and this is great place to stay if you plan on exploring or just hanging out at the lake. I have 4/5 stars because we paid to camp and then also paid to park, which is unusual. On top of that, we paid for parking and by the time we drove from the kiosk to the parking lot (like 10 ft) they gave our spot away. I felt like they were gouging our money and we weren't able to bring the kayak, cooler, ect. with us. Kind of a bummer because I don't make a lot of money which is why I was caming in 100 degree weather, and I was really looking forward to kayaking. We waited until some people left and came back. Just know that if you pay for parking and don't park that exact second your spot will be given to whomever is in front of you.

Campground was nice, with good views. Some issues with noisy campers after 10 pm quiet hours.

Very clean and well maintained campground… camp hosts were amazing.. only con is shade is hard to come by so pick your sites carefully.
