Had an amazing and much needed time out of LA!
I haven't been to Silver Lake/June Lake in probably over a decade and I was very excited, and a little nervous, about going. I planed this trip in the beginnings of Covid, and then the fires got worse as the months passed, so I wasn't sure if I'd be able to go at all. Thankfully everything was fine and good for me to go! Despite some problems due to Covid/fire restrictions, season closures and "those" type if campers... (You know the type; loud, obnoxious breeders with their nasty children and people who have to bring their entire homes with them....why come out into beautiful nature if you're just gonna be horrible and lazy??) which were far and few in between, I had an amazing and absolutely peaceful time! The fall colors were gorgeous and besides it getting below 10 degrees, the weather was almost perfect. (I'd usually go in the summer but I wanted to see the area in this light and hopefully be less surrounded by people). This is an amazing and special place and there's so much beautiful wildlife to see and things do! It was so nice to reconnect myself with this place. Recreation made it super simple to book my spot/time and even booked one of the last day passes for Yosemite! I can't wait to come back!

Beautiful place. June Lake General Store close to get supplies. Camp Hosts are extremely friendly. Temp dropped to 20F during my stay so be prepared if you tent camp. I ll be back.

Silver lake is very pretty, but be aware that the camp sites are very small and close together. The site I stayed in barely had room for a small (backpacking) three-person tent right next to the paved parking space. The bear box is large and could fit a standard sized cooler and bin of food easily. When I stayed (third weekend of October) the leaves of the aspen trees were changing colors around the lake and along the road to the campsite which was gorgeous; it was quite cold at night dropping to single digits. The restroom was nicely maintained and the camp host was friendly.

Great site (#38) right across from the river. Beautiful scenery.

Even though this site was next to the road, it was nice and quiet plus we were visited by deer resting just beyond our campsite until it got busier. We had extremely smoky afternoons due to the Creek Fire near Mammoth but hope to come back at a better time.
