Lovely campground with personable host. Very clean and quiet (although we were there during the week and early in season) - don't know if that's always the case. Excellent hiking opportunities nearby. Sites offer a relative amount of privacy. Be prepared for mosquitoes and lots of pine pollen early in the season but overall a great experience.

Small campground of 20 spaces. Excellent condition, campground host keeps it very clean. Quiet - noisy children, but's that's to be expected. Beautiful meadow with abundant wildflowers in late June.

The Hope Valley campground is usually quiet and not as popular as the PG&E campgrounds at the upper end of the valley. The campground is small and there are some campsites that have reasonably sized driveways. However, some sites have very tight and difficult to access driveways for a larger RV or trailer; so choose carefully. The river is easily accessed from the campground. Camp host was friendly and attentive to camper needs.

Relaxing campground with perfect weather. The Camp Host for the past 2 years has been David who is excellent. Hoping he is back next year for our 23rd year trip to Hope Valley.

Managed to get this campsite as the last reservation available on recreation.gov app. First day of our reservation, we had some car issues that led us to arriving to our campsite the next day at 5am.
After arriving tired, hungry and sleep deprived, we found our site had been occupied by another group (without prior notice or reservation details that stated they can do that). The host had double booked the site. After a bit of resistance from the group that already occupied the space, I let them sleep on our site until it could get resolved in 2 hours when the host woke up; resulting in me sleeping where the cars parked among rocks instead of where I was supposed to put my tent up. Host came by and offered the other group $30 and a guaranteed spot at a different campground for the trouble and offered my group free firewood. Key difference? The other group were men and my group were all women. The compensation for our trouble wasn’t equitable and it took us having to inquire on the side with the host (David I believe?) to ask why that was. After lots of back and forth, the host was annoyed, gave in and gave us $50 to send us away. Once the group of men packed up their belongings they left the site a mess. My group ended up cleaning up the space and had to throw the trash outside of the campground (there’s one trash bin for the whole site and it was full the whole time we were there). I wanted to love this place, especially after a long month of work and looking forward to my trip to Tahoe. If you’re looking at booking this spot it could be worth it for a night or two just to be close to Tahoe but call beforehand so you don’t end up in a situation like mine where a group was already in the site I had reserved weeks prior.

The Hope Valley Campground is kept very clean by the Camp Host. The area is beautiful and the perfect place to camp and enjoy the nearby Blue Lakes area.

It is supposed to be a dogs on leash campground. On the first day we were there, a loose dog attacked our dog at our campsite. On the last day we were there a different dog was roaming the campground. The campground host is not taking care of business by ensuring the safety of campers with dogs who follow the rules.
