What Guests Are Saying
Kit Carson Campground is praised for its cleanliness, beautiful setting among pine and aspen trees, and excellent camp host, Mark, who provides valuable information and maintains the facilities well. While some reviews mention highway noise and the presence of ants, the campground offers good-sized sites, easy access to fishing in the Carson River, and a cozy atmosphere. Overall, visitors recommend it as a hidden gem for a peaceful getaway.

Eric the campground host was amazing! Give this guy a raise!
Campground is cold at night so be prepared. There is a small river that you can explore and fish at. Bathrooms were clean and fresh

1. next to river, but next to highway so very noise when cars are passing through
2. nice small camp ground, but no place to pitch tent (most sites). mine was site #5 which is one of two sites next to river. ideal for small trailer (2 people). not good for big family at all. I stayed for the day and left at night because I couldnt pitch 6 people tent.
3. nice table & bear storage box (fairly new), but NO shower.
4. good and friendly host

Loved it here. The camp host was very nice and accommodating. There's a small stream with trout nearby. A small meadow for stargazing. The cleanest vault toilets ever! And not too far from Tahoe.

This was a great upper elevation campground. Roads in and out are a bit steep & windy, but overall not too difficult to get in & out of. The sites were clean, the camp host was amazing! Its close enough to walk to the river, nice locations to swim or goof off if you're not into fishing. lots of hiking trails within a short drive.

Another beautiful park with the Carson river running next to it. High away in the mountains but right down the road from the best pie shop ever!! Big recommend. Plus campsites are kept clean. And they have area for bolder hopping, fishing and gold panning
