What Guests Are Saying
Butte Lake Campground offers a beautiful, quiet location with clean facilities, access to hiking trails, and a serene atmosphere surrounded by nature. Many visitors enjoyed the stunning views, wildlife interactions, and recreational options like kayaking and swimming. However, concerns were raised about the rough access road, lack of cell service, and limited information or support on-site, which could impact the overall camping experience.

I camped at Butte Lake on a short 2 day stay at Lassen and had the best time. The campsite was in a great location close to trails and the nearby lake. The bathrooms were clean and conveniently located, and the water spigot at the bathroom and dish wash sink were nice additions. It was really nice to leave my campsite in the morning and head right to Cinder Cone Trail without worrying about finding parking (which there was plenty, really) and to then enjoy a nice relaxing evening reading by the water. Overall a great experience.

Park layout is a little difficult, making for a lot of driving from this Campground. But relative quiet of the lake and the cinder cone hike are worthwhile.

It was very difficult to find out how to get a reservation on my tiny phone. I had to guess at where everything was, I should've done it on the computer. But there was a wildfire which made it impossible to use our reservation, we didn't show up, yet the funds were returned promptly..this was greatly appreciated. Support our national parks they are our treasure. Thank you.

Our recent stay at this fantastic campsite was nothing short of amazing. Nestled in a serene location, the site offered breathtaking views and a tranquil environment, perfect for a getaway from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Make sure to take a dip in butte lake it was clean and very refreshing. The facilities were well-maintained.
The only drawback was its location at the end of a long gravel road, which made the journey a bit challenging, especially for those without a 4x4 vehicle. Additionally, the campsite is situated far from the main entrance of the park, so it’s worth considering the extra travel time for activities and excursions.
Despite these minor inconveniences, the beauty and peace of the campsite more than made up for it. It’s a perfect spot for those looking to disconnect and enjoy nature. We highly recommend it and would gladly return for another stay. Just be prepared for a bit of an adventure getting there!
