Butte Lake Campground offers a beautiful and well-maintained environment with clean restrooms, spacious sites, and close proximity to the stunning Cinder Cone Trail and Butte Lake, making it ideal for outdoor activities like swimming and hiking. So glad we changed from Manzanita Lake to this campground. It was so peaceful and close to the Cinder Cone hike which was a high priority for our trip. We had a travel trailer and the pull thru for our site made it very easy for set up. We shared with site A15 but noone ever showed up. Even if they had, we would have plenty of room to share. We think the site was the best since it had all open woods behind and was very flat. Really hope to visit again soon!

The campsite is big and clean, with good facilities, nearby the cinder cone and Lassen volcanic national park.

So glad we changed from Manzanita Lake to this campground. It was so peaceful and close to the Cinder Cone hike which was a high priority for our trip. We had a travel trailer and the pull thru for our site made it very easy for set up. We shared with site A15 but noone ever showed up. Even if they had, we would have plenty of room to share. We think the site was the best since it had all open woods behind and was very flat. Really hope to visit again soon!

We stayed at this campground about 2 weeks ago so we could explore the cinder cone and many beautiful trails out in the backcountry. The campground has flush toilets (and pit toilets) as well as water spigots for filling bottles and a wash station with sink so you can wash your dishes. The road getting to the campground is a packed dirt road that is pretty good and should be accessible to most vehicles. Each campsite has a generous parking area and there are plenty of trash cans around. The only real downside to this campground (and reason for 3 stars) is that the campsites are not level at all. Our site was on a hillside and the heavy concrete picnic table was so slanted, you couldn’t boil water on a camp stove without the pot sliding off the burner! This made it hard to find a level spot to pitch a tent as well and probably would have been challenging for a RV to set up. Other than the hilly campsites, it is a nice campground with good amenities and of course, easy accessibility to trails and the lake.

Pull thru sites in this campsite are divided in two so they are not really pull thru.
Other than that, beautiful place with access to lake and hikes.
Drive in was bumpy with washers but they were working on it.

Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
