Summit Lake North is praised for its great location within Lassen National Park, offering scenic views, easy access to hiking trails, and a beautiful lake for swimming. The campground is well-maintained with clean bathrooms and a peaceful atmosphere, making it a favorite for visitors seeking a relaxing camping experience. However, some sites are closely spaced and lack shade, which may affect privacy and comfort.

The neighboring campsite is too close. Otherwise it is a good campsite.

We liked the hike from summit lake to cliff lake, shadow lake, terrace lake and back. It’s a long hike, 8 mi, but beautiful.

Beautiful, trash promptly picked up, bathrooms super clean, campsites very clean, bear boxes clean and easy to use. Great park, great employees. Wonderful time!

Beutiful location but campsite was crowded with general lack of shade on a very warm day. Bring a pop-up. Guest host was cordial. Facilities were clean. Summit Lake is pretty with trails close by.

Very enjoyable, but several sights were vacant all night. Why can’t there be a system to allow those campsites to be used by last minute visitors?

Really good campground and campsite but a few things kept it from being 5 stars. The sites are way to close together considering the amount of space. Additionally, campers with sites further from the water will post up with chairs, floats, and hammocks for days in the day use area, leaving their things overnight, and ruining prime hang out spots.

Had a reservation site 44. Checked it out but didn't stay. Hot weekend, crowded campground, packed shoreline, and tiny unshaded site. Probably would've stayed much earlier or much later in season. Will research sites more carefully next time.

The camp host was very unreasonable and borderline harassing us. My family and I are no where near unreasonable people and just wanted to have a good camping experience. Mrs. Janet called law enforcement on us for parking our vehicle outside a designated zone to which I moved it. I was not meaning to break any rules or inconvenience anyone but it was out of the way and doing no harm. She came at us with instant hostility about the situation without even as much as introducing herself. On our final day of camping she referred to us as "animals" and said that we only listened because she called law enforcement. Mind you we stayed within our bounds and followed all rules and were not disruptive or disrespectful to anyone around us so her comments were very unnecessary. Although it was a beautiful place we will not be returning.

I must’ve got the worst site as there as no level ground except right beside the car. The sites are all very close together so there is absolutely no sense of privacy. The night I was there, we had neighbor campers making lots of noise until 1 am and the host did nothing. Terrible night sleep. The lake is lovely though. I would not stay here again in a tent.
