Summit Lake North is praised for its great location within Lassen National Park, offering scenic views, easy access to hiking trails, and a beautiful lake for swimming. The campground is well-maintained with clean bathrooms and a peaceful atmosphere, making it a favorite for visitors seeking a relaxing camping experience. However, some sites are closely spaced and lack shade, which may affect privacy and comfort.

We love this park and we loved this quieter campground. It is more centrally located so seeing the park was easier. There were ample water spigots and trash/recycle cans conveniently located so you didn’t have to walk a long way. Less traffic meant the kids could ride their bikes safely. The lake is peacefully serene. There are not as many bathrooms , but they were very clean. There is absolutely no cell reception which I consider a bonus, , but ifi that is important to you , you can go the either Visitor’s Center.

Site b17 had a picnic table at a 30 degree angle making it hard for us to stabilize our stove for cooking. Firepit was also too close to the table. Grass and brush at the site were not cleared (understandably) so setting up chairs was difficult if not on top of a bush. Deer and chipmunks and birds foraged through our site throughout the afternoon and in the middle of the night. Have never seen deer so unbothered by humans. Would book a site in the interior ring close to the lake next time.

It’s a nice spot, especially for families. Good lake access, decent restrooms. It is pretty tightly packed so there is little privacy and it’s incredibly loud with human noises (kids screaming, adults talking late into the night, bear boxes and trash cans slamming).

We loved this campground! There is water close to every site and they have garbages close to every site.

spectacular setting; small, fairly quiet campground; campsites pretty close together with little privacy. Lots of great hiking right out of the campground.
showers at Manzanita lake were the filthiest public showers I have every seen. shame on the concessionaire, and shame on the park for not holding the concessionaire accountable.

A beautiful spot next to a small lake where you can swim. There's no electricity, but water is available and the restrooms are very clean.

Summit Lake North is in an absolutely beautiful setting and in a great position within the park. The lake is warm enough for swimming by early July, and so beautiful. Bathrooms are clean and well maintained. No electric lights anywhere in the park, so you’ll need headlamps or a lantern for the bathrooms. Note that many sites are better suited for camper vans or small RVs. Each site might have space for small tents, but in many cases there isn’t much level space. A few spaces are good for tents, so look at photos carefully.
