The campground was fabulous, although the sites are really close together it was still peaceful and quiet. The bathroom was always clean and well stocked. My only complaint is that the camp host was a tad rude.

The campgrounds are beautiful! Walking distance to the lake. A good midpoint for the whole park. However, DO NOT STAY AT A07! The campsite has so many issues! 1. There is no flat ground. We set up our tent on a sloped surface. 2. The trashcans for the campgrounds are in A07. 3. A07 is surrounded by other campsites. There is no privacy. We were constantly under other campers flashlights the whole night.
I do recommend summit campgrounds but A07 is not it

Summit Lake is our favorite camping spot for beauty, access and a peaceful environment.
The lake is a good place for swimming or just relaxing.

It’s a quiet campground in a beautiful setting. The lake is swimmable (it’s shallow so warms up). Great stargazing. There are flush toilets.

This is a great location for exploring Lassen National Park, and it was great to swim in the lake in the afternoon after hiking in the morning. Our spot was large and ok, except our tent trailer door was facing out into the road, instead of in to our camp spot. The parking spot was more like a wide spot in the road, and it didn’t seem like it was very good for a trailer, but would have been better for tent camping. The camp spot also didn’t have much shade, fortunately we brought our pop up so we had some shade.

I must’ve got the worst site as there as no level ground except right beside the car. The sites are all very close together so there is absolutely no sense of privacy. The night I was there, we had neighbor campers making lots of noise until 1 am and the host did nothing. Terrible night sleep. The lake is lovely though. I would not stay here again in a tent.

The camp host was very unreasonable and borderline harassing us. My family and I are no where near unreasonable people and just wanted to have a good camping experience. Mrs. Janet called law enforcement on us for parking our vehicle outside a designated zone to which I moved it. I was not meaning to break any rules or inconvenience anyone but it was out of the way and doing no harm. She came at us with instant hostility about the situation without even as much as introducing herself. On our final day of camping she referred to us as "animals" and said that we only listened because she called law enforcement. Mind you we stayed within our bounds and followed all rules and were not disruptive or disrespectful to anyone around us so her comments were very unnecessary. Although it was a beautiful place we will not be returning.
