Summit Lake South is a scenic and well-kept campground with decent privacy and easy access to nearby lakes and trails. Many campers appreciated the tranquility and cleanliness, enjoying amenities like potable water and flat camping spots. However, some noted issues with campsite spacing, uneven parking, and noise from nearby campers, while others mentioned the impact of the recent fire on the area's natural beauty.

Summit lake south is a very good camp ground we had a great time. Remember the elevation is over 6,000 ft so nights tend to get cold even in the summer.

Location can’t be beat. About 15 minutes from every major trailhead, sight, visitors center. Amazing lake on the campground with kayaking and paddle boarding. All the basic amenities you’ll need. Love it!

This is a very nice campground for tent camping. The bathrooms were clean. The evidence of the Dixie fire of 2021 does make the campground less appealing but the burned areas are just outside the campground boundaries.

The dog policy at this park is ridiculous. I was told my dog could only be where a car could go. Basically paved areas only. I understand that dogs can be a problem but to ban them from any and all trails is unfair. There should be some trails where leashed dogs are allowed and other where they are not. And for the park ranger to tell me that "you can go outside the park to hike with your dog" defeats the purpose of visiting the park in the first place.
