Decent site. Medium sized. Flat tent space. Close to neighboring site on one side. Some shade.

Great location for hikes.
Not all camp parking spaces are flat, so if you’re staying in your vehicle be aware.
They did shut off all water spickets without any advance notice and there weren’t any
NON POTABLE water signs on those spickets - I just knew better then to drink the water.

Site C-4: Several trees in the campground have been cut down; our campsite was especially barren and difficult to deal with due to the placement of downed logs. The picnic table was placed on the steepest slope on the site making it uncomfortable to use. There were flatter places nearby, but moving that concrete table wasn’t possible. Although it’s stated that there is drinking water widely available in the campground there was none; we had to drive a few miles to the group campground to obtain drinking water. And even though the water spigots were signed “non-potable water” they were turned off; we had to use previous drinking water to extinguish our campfires. There was a yellowjacket nest in one of the campsite’s tree stumps and I was stung several times after making the mistake of using the stump as a chopping block for firewood. The nearby lake is beautiful, as is so much of the park. Despite the lousy campsite, we enjoyed our visit.

Summit Lake South is a beautiful campground. We've camped here several times and are always happy to come back. The sites are pretty small but it's nice because that means it mostly limits how many people can come, keeping the experience pretty serene.
