My campsite, E05, was comfortable, with good spacing from nearby campsites. Bathroom was very clean; bravo.

Summit Lake South is a scenic and well-kept campground with decent privacy and easy access to nearby lakes and trails. Many campers appreciated the tranquility and cleanliness, enjoying amenities like potable water and flat camping spots. However, some noted issues with campsite spacing, uneven parking, and noise from nearby campers, while others mentioned the impact of the recent fire on the area's natural beauty.

The location of our campground was great in terms of having easy access to lots of great adventures in Lassen National Park. It did not feel overly crowded or noisy, and the easy access to Summit Lake was great. The two reasons why we did not rate our experience higher are: 1) Our campground was on a slope, which make it challenging to set up our tent and bedding to where we were not rolling during the night. 2) The bathrooms developed a very foul odor about 36 hours into our stay which made any visit to the bathroom disgusting. It seemed to get addressed at one point, but the odor was coming back shortly thereafter on the morning that we left.

Beautiful area. Very quiet. Deer came into our campsite & hung out for a while.
I can’t recommend this campsite, or this campground if you are in an RV, though. Almost every site is on a paved slope - some worse than others. Our site said it accommodated a 30 ft vehicle. It was on more of a grade than we expected for a paved driveway. The pull-through driveway also shares its space with the road through Loop D, so unless we approached the site from the opposite direction, we couldn’t open our slide-out. We didn’t stay for the entire length of our reservation. Summit Lake North can accommodate RVs better. We wish we had known that when we booked.

Campground is nice and much better than manzanita. The only drawback is no showers.

Campground is very basic. Campsites have everything you need. Beach is minimal. Pit toilets

A more perfect site for hammock camping couldn’t be found! The trees are solid, live, and a perfect distance from each other. Tree thickness requires only one tree strap per tree. The bathroom is nearby. Water is just across the road! And the sky at night! Incredible. The lake is just a short walk away. The vibe here isn’t as busy as Manzanita Lake or Summit Lake North.

Campsite was decent, though located on the side of a hill so most campsites were sloped. Toilet rooms were clean. Middle campsites on loop C were in direct sun, no shade. The campground host was located on the North campground and was non-existand from our standpoint. No one checked us in or confirmed we were the ones who reserved the campsite. I had questions about where to buy ice and firewood, and when I finally found her on the north side, there was a sign outside her trailer that said "off duty." Syrang seeing as how it was like 5pm and people were coming in. Last night there, there was a group of young men who woke up very early and were very loud and disrespectful to people still sleeping. It was probably 6am when they woke my family up with their yelling, but no campground host to maintain the quiet. Decent campground, poorly run.
