Summit Lake South is a scenic and well-kept campground with decent privacy and easy access to nearby lakes and trails. Many campers appreciated the tranquility and cleanliness, enjoying amenities like potable water and flat camping spots. However, some noted issues with campsite spacing, uneven parking, and noise from nearby campers, while others mentioned the impact of the recent fire on the area's natural beauty.

This is probably the best campsite in the campground with its space, shade, and lake view. The main flaw is the proximity to paths used by day use visitors, who don’t always see the paths and walk into your site, and park in your space. The camp hosts were wonderful and constantly patrolled the area to correct the day use visitors. We were lucky enough to watch a bear forage for food across the meadow one day.

This was my first experience at Lassen Volcanic and I was pleasantly surprised. The accommodations were bare minimum, but clean and cared for nonetheless. I will certainly look forward to a future visit.
