Campsites were a good size. Beautiful trails around the lake! Bathrooms were the cleanest vault toilets I've ever seen. Only downside was that the agent they used to break down waste in the toilets had a very strong chemical smell each morning.

These sites (c08 and c09) were right by the water with a trailhead starting right between them, so we had a lot of people walking through our spaces. But everyone was friendly, and you just can't beat the views! We were able to put our little kayak on the lake from just steps from our tent.

Campsite and restrooms were clean, lot's of shade, quiet, good ground cover of bark so dust was minimized. Lots of nearby hikes.

This was our fourth time visiting the park and second time camping at Summit Lake South. This is such a beautiful park with many lakes to swim in, lots of hiking. Campsites are a mix of sun and shade, lots of space for two tents, showers and real bathrooms are available if needed on the nearby Summit Lake North campground. Very quiet, loop E is tents only. No electricity at this campground due to remote location but potable water is available almost on every site. I highly recommend this national park and this campground.

The site we had shouldn't have been a site. There was parking for one car that was very steep and nowhere truly flat to put out our tent. We ended up spending the night sleeping in our vehicle in one of the day use parking spots. We imagined there may have been plenty of empty sites that night, but the campground host was off duty (early Tuesday evening when we arrived until Friday), and so we had nobody to discuss the possibility of taking a site that had been forfeited by no-shows.

Great spot in a great park. The campground is a little tight, site number 19 is literally right on top of you in #20.....but there's a nice meadow view & good access to Lassen sunset views. If I did it again I would book both 19 & 20 (baller!) and have the whole end of the loop to myself. Bathroom were cleaned daily, amazing TBH & best pit toilet I think I've found in my 40 years of camping. I would return :D
