We have been coming here every year for 25 years. Love the camp site but this time the camp host was terrible!!!! Worst host we have ever had. He was more concerned about gold panning then helping people or cleaning the bathrooms

Sweet campsite right next to the river. The white noise made me sleep like a baby. Campsites are spacious and provide ample flat ground for a tent. The proximity to Sierra City (the start of the Downieville XC race) is awesome. I’ll be back!

Beautiful campground. Its isolated without a lot of luxuries, just the way we love it. Good drinking water faucets, about one per five sites. No faucets at the sites themselves. The vault toilets are very clean, no flushing though. There is a faint odor from the vault toilets in site 17, it bothered my wife more than it did myself.

Great hiking, or running, right from the campground. I also recommend the 30m drive to the Gold Lake area, many small lakes for swimming and boating. Go East to Basset Station, and take a left at Gold Lake Highway.

Like the campground, the creek runs through it nice for sitting and dipping in but not swim able unless you're a child. campgrounds are a little rocky if u have a big group make sure to get two sites. drove up to upper sardine lake and that was perfect. sierra city to grab ice and wood.

I stayed in site 18. I love wooded sites with lots of trees and shade and this campground is great for that. 18 is also quite private, with a good distance to the adjacent site on one side and pretty much no neighbor on the other - there is one, but it's 50 yards away.

It's fairly close to the bathroom and water spigot, which is good and bad. It's a vault toilet, and once in a while when the breeze is just right I got a whiff of the toilet smell. Not often and not strong, but it was there a few times over the two days I stayed.

The camp manager was really lovely! The sites are really spacious, as well as spaced out, in the upper loop. We randomly selected Site 41 and were pleasantly surprised - would book again!

This is an outstanding campground, though further from society than we expected 😆 the closest place is Sierra City, with a population of like 250... The store closed at 6pm ☺️ our space was right on the creek!

Policies & Rules

General

  • In accordance with standard industry practices, we will be assessing a $5 additional vehicle fee on the 'second vehicle' in each single family campsite, and on the 'third and fourth vehicle' in any double family campsite, provided these vehicles are not joined to the first vehicle by a hitch and towed onto the site. In the case of motorcycles, the first two are considered to be one vehicle and the third and fourth are also considered to be one vehicle. No additional vehicle fees are collected for bicycles.
  • Bears frequent the area; all food must be kept in approved containers
  • Utility hookups and showers are not available
  • Click here for more information on the Tahoe National Forest
  • Fire restrictions may be imposed at any time due to hot, dry weather conditions, at which time campfires and charcoal fires may not be allowed. For current fire conditions or weather closures contact the Yuba River Ranger District (530) 288-3231(voice), (530) 288-3656 (TDD).
  • Don't Move Firewood: Protect California's forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. For more information visit firewood.ca.gov.
  • No Show Policy A no-show customer is one who does not arrive at a campground and does not cancel the reservation by check-out time on the day after the scheduled arrival date (or for day-use facilities, by check-in time the day of arrival).  * No-show customers are only recorded at staffed facilities. At most remote facilities, all customers are noted as automatically checked-in on the date of arrival. * It is recommended that staffed facilities hold a campsite until check-out time on the day following the arrival date. * It is recommended that staffed facilities hold group day-use facilities until check-in time on the arrival date. There is no change fee if a customer extends or shortens a reservation if the change includes dates from the original reservation. If they choose to depart early, they may forfeit some or all of the recreation fees.  There is no change fee if the customer changes campsites that are the same price and on the same reservation dates in the same campground. If the campsite the customer is changing to has a price difference, the customer will be responsible for any additional fees or be provided with a refund, based on the price difference.  Where recorded, no-show customers are assessed a $20.00 no-show fee and forfeit the first night's recreation fee for a campsite or forfeit the entire day-use recreation fee for a day-use facility. We recommend customers contact the facility if they are en route to their reservation but cannot make it by the check-in date. In these cases, no refund will be issued, but the facility can ensure that a "no-show" fee is not assessed.
