What Guests Are Saying
Wheeler Gorge is highly praised for its beautiful location near LA, spacious and clean campsites, and friendly camp hosts. Families enjoy the creekside access, making it a great spot for kids to play and explore. Pretty and well kept campground with some sites having access to the creek. Bring bug spray for sure, though.

Love Wheelers….. used to go all the time when kids were small and just camped there again after 25 years.
Clean, camp hosts are awesome… just need to bring your own water as none at campground but have vaulted toilets.

Note that sites 1-27 get highway noise. Host was awesome, site 8 was small but nice. The grounds would be much nicer if it was a loop, but alas. Also note that the provided maps have errors - there is NO lower crossing!!! This caused a lot of confusion for us, so please note. Creek was gorgeous!

I normally avoid pit toilets however the bathrooms at the campground were very clean and well maintained

Absolutely lovely campground. Creek was loud enough (early March) to block most of the highway noise, and noise from other sites. Pit toilets were very clean.

I arrived on Sunday night. I was the only camper in my area. Hosts were very nice and helpful. Bathrooms were clean and didn't smell bad (rare for a pit toilet). All in all a wonderful camping trip

We had spot 58. Right up above the river and close to a restroom. Beautiful location if you can handle vault toilets and no running water. Check-in could not be easier. Visitor center and Rose valley falls were great with our kids.

Very isolated and big camp site that offered nearby creek hiking and clear stargazing at night.
