Gorgeous campsites, beautiful hike, and a lovely creek to climb around in if you're sure-footed enough.
Be sure to bring a lot of water because there is no water on the campgrounds other than the creek so plan to be stinky or freeze in the creek for a rinse. If you're used to taking a cold plunge the creek was very nice. Despite the lack of water the bathrooms are very clean and don't smell much unless you are directly smelling the toilet.
There is no cell service which was nice to fully disconnect and spend some time off grid. We were able to connect to a satellite for texting so there is some potential for contact in an emergency.
Fire pit and charcoal style grill were nice and having both was a plus.
We can't wait to camp here again!

Wasn’t expecting number 3 to be next to a big light that stay on all night or next to a Main Street. But over all it was beautiful and a wonderful get away! Definitely will be coming back!!

The experience at Wheeler Gorge campground was wonderful!! The sites are private enough, but the sound of Matilaja stream was terrific!! we slept like babies. The campground hosts were great, helpful and informative.

Clean campsite and bathrooms. The water was beautiful and could hang out there all day. The trees and mountains provided enough shade. Make sure to walk around and explore, the whole area is beautiful. Definitely coming back

My favorite spot to camp in Ojai. The sites are great, many of them big and/or private and many spots along the river. I can’t wait to go back.

Great campsite - plenty of shade and access to the river. The camp hosts were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the visitor center and the nature trail as well. Highly recommend, just watch out for poison oak this time of year!
