Wheeler Gorge is highly praised for its beautiful location near LA, spacious and clean campsites, and friendly camp hosts. Families enjoy the creekside access, making it a great spot for kids to play and explore. Our campsite, #56, was very small and we had to set our tents up in the parking stall which was difficult. Other than that, beautiful location with nice people at check in.

The place is clean and nice. The downside is that they don't allow camp fire. At night it got pretty cold and dark. Without camp fire, camping is not much fun.

We loved our time at Wheeler Gorge. A truly beautiful site. There was a fire ban the weekend we went and our campstove broke so we had to head out early but it was clear that this is truly a wonderful place and "the dog lovers" camping spot.

Great campground. The site was great and big. The campground is a little tight getting through with bigger rv’s. Everyone was nice.

Host was awesome, restrooms were clean, and the camp sites were spaced out enough to feel secluded. Great experience overall.

I did not realize that the campground was THAT close to the highway. Cars and motorcycles were passing by very fast and loudly including in the middle of the night, such a shame when you want to feel like you are in the wilderness.
The rest of the campground is nice, the stream is a nice plus. Plus it is very crowded and some spots are small and exposed. Basically, choose your campsite well!

Stayed at #9/10 last weekend
The campsite is large, clean and well maintained AND next to a clear flowing stream.
Mostly shady level site with two picnic tables
We could not ask for more from a campsite
But, we were more impressed by the hard working camp hosts. They were (I assume they are a husband & wife team) gracious, polite and hard working. They came out and greet us even before we get to the gate and were working late into the night (warning people and chasing bears at 3:00 in the morning for the safety of the campers). - Thank you. Thank you. I will definitely come back and shake hands with you when the COVID is over

No water(time of year)-No campfires(forest service restriction due to fires/covid)-Propane only-poison oak-no cell phone service-Bad bear and a pack of hungry raccoons. We loved it !!!-had a creek running through it-we played poker instead of watching a campfire-weather was great. Had a great time. We would definitely go there again---after everything calms down.

Campsite 40. Nice campsite with two large rocks nearby. Able to accommodate two 4 person tents. You can also hear the nearby stream flowing at night which makes it so great. Unfortunately, there was a weird smell that later turned out to smell the same as the nearby bathroom.
We were met with a friendly lady on a golf cart in the morning as we were packing up asking how our experience was and to come visit again. That's great customer service!
