What Guests Are Saying

Fish Lake Campground offers a beautiful and secluded experience, with stunning views of the lake and plentiful wildlife, including trout fishing opportunities. Many campers enjoyed spacious sites, clean facilities, and peaceful surroundings, making it a great choice for those seeking tranquility. However, the campground's remoteness can lead to challenges like mosquito swarms and limited cell service, and some visitors noted the absence of a camp host to manage unruly campers.

It was one of the most amazing camping trips I have ever been on. It was the day after a heavy rain that we went and nobody else was at the campground. It was only me and my son the whole entire time. The bathrooms were the cleanest I have ever seen in a campground. The lake had more trout then I have ever seen anywhere else. There were eagles, hawks, osprey, otters, bears and deer. Truly one of the best experiences of my life. All for like 18 buck plus gas to get there :)

There was not campground host. There were a few unruly folks camping there that were disturbing the entire campground. A host would have been very beneficial. This tainted anytime we spent at our campsite unfortunately. Time we spent on the lake and hiking was great though. We left early due to this.

The campground was very remote, the location was about 2 hours away from getting phone service for emergency in any direction. It had a 30 minute drive up a small mountain road to the campsite and the first night we were the only ones there. We saw 4 bears at the camp grounds and hundreds of mosquitos swarmed the camp site. After leaving we had dozens of bites even with bug spray. We talked to a very nice park ranger that loved the place, but we just maybe would have liked to know HOW remote it is as we are traveling as two females. Be very bear aware with food as well, since it’s so remote the bears are very prominent and we believe they were playing with our bear can that we set away from camp one night because in the morning it was moved and had marks. Just leaving a review to say what I wish we had known before staying. Still a beautiful surrounding area and had fun.

We stayed at site 17 and it was lovely. It is very big and set back from the road. There are a couple spots for tents, but we slept in our vehicle. There aren’t any perfect trees for a hammock but if you wanted to stretch the ropes out you could make it work. It is barely down the road from the vault bathrooms.
Site 18 is right across from the bathrooms and it has an amazing view of the lake but the site itself is tiny and close to the road.
The roads getting to the campground are in mostly good condition. Six miles off the hwy and then 3 miles off that road.
There is a resident bear that lives in the park, multiple campers saw him, but he was always running away in every encounter.
The lake itself is surrounded by lily pads and not great for swimming. A flotation device, kayak, or small boat would be ideal to get to the center of the lake where it is clear. There are croppie, large mouth bass, and trout in the lake for fishing.
