What Guests Are Saying
Fish Lake Campground offers a beautiful and secluded experience, with stunning views of the lake and plentiful wildlife, including trout fishing opportunities. Many campers enjoyed spacious sites, clean facilities, and peaceful surroundings, making it a great choice for those seeking tranquility. However, the campground's remoteness can lead to challenges like mosquito swarms and limited cell service, and some visitors noted the absence of a camp host to manage unruly campers.

Tucked 7 miles into the National Forest in a small valley, you have to drive up a winding USFS road, which at times hug steep cliffs and beautiful sights. Once you get to the camp you find a secluded spot away from the worst of civilization. As with all spots near stagnant waters, you'll never have a moment to yourself, always being hounded by bugs, birds, and other creatures. I had the pleasure to stay in spot 17, on the far end of the campground, it was the perfect spot for me to get a peaceful night sleep. The grounds themselves are a mixture of waist high bushes, towering trees, stumps, and flat spaces for you to pitch your tent. The soil is soft and mailable, so finding a good spot is ideal for your tent not disappear during a bathroom break. There's multiple restrooms available to all campers, and a sound lake not to far from the sites. Once you get past the lily pads and the weeds on the lake shore, it is a beautiful swim. Hardly any wind, noise, or humans could reach you up here. So if you don't mind a drive to wake you up in the morning with the twists and turns not only of the USFS road, but also the State Routes leading up to it, this is the perfect campground for you.

As a solo female camper, I felt pretty safe at this site despite being the only one at the campground for my entire stay. A camp host definitely would’ve helped but I totally understand the lack there of. The lake is absolutely gorgeous and the loop is pretty easy to walk. Site 20 is huge and definitely has enough space for everything you need, even got to use my hammock ! Mosquitos are the main downside, but I’m in their house so I just used lots of bug spray and left without any bites. No bear encounters like others have had though, overall a super cool site. No data at all until you reach the beginning of Hoopa and no water so plan accordingly
