What Guests Are Saying
The campground offers a beautiful reservoir and many outdoor activities like kayaking and paddleboarding, with well-maintained facilities and a dedicated camp host who keeps the area clean. However, some visitors reported issues with a rude camp host and concerns about the overall condition of the campground, including crumbling pads and maintenance needs. Despite these drawbacks, many campers enjoyed their stay and appreciated the serene environment, making it a beloved destination for repeat visitors.

very nice area, stocked bathrooms and attentive camp host. The place was beautiful and we had a big space for just two people, very comfortable for sure.

Really wonderful campsite! the weather was not too hot thanks to the elevation, and sunny during the day made it great to enjoy water activities on the Little Grass Valley Reservoir, while nights were a little chilly but made the campfire feel really nice. I was surprised this campsite wasn't more crowded, but it was very relaxing and quiet, which our group enjoyed very much. The sites were spacious and not super crowded together, and the bathrooms were cleaned regularly. Overall a wonderful campsite that we will be returning to!

We typically stay in Running Deer campground, but they are closed this year. Red Feather was a great second choice. The campground and sites were in great condition and the camp Host Dan was helpful and a genuinely a nice person.

We have been coming up to Little Grass Valley Reservoir for over 40 years but this year was the first time encountering a camp host that was very aggressive and rude. At first he told me that I was using the wrong kind of wood to make a fire. Then he stated that fires can only be knee high, even when it didn't say that on the stage 2 fire regulations. Every 10 minutes he would drive by on his electric tricycle saying "Watch those flames". I tried to explain that we had the type of firepit was built above ground and that the bottom of the pit was already 6 to 8 inches above ground, leaving only about 12 inches for a fire, according to his rules. He just said "I'm not doing this back and forth thing". I saved up the money for a whole year to go on this vacation just to be harassed by this guy.

The camp host was very rude and harassed a lot of campers. Stated false information about the camp ground and camp fires. Every half an hour he would drive by on his electric tricycle (which I thought was not allowed in the camp grounds). Just a very bad experience this year. We have been coming up to Little Grass Valley Resevior for many many years. We will think hard on returning.

Camp host Dan was very nice, helpful and kept the area clean. I wish they would get the other campgrounds (Little Beaver, Running Deer) opened back up. You can see the impact on Red Feather from the over use from the others being shut down. The pads into the sites are crumbling, people do not park on the pads they park on the dirt. Multiple vehicles park in one site, meant for only a trailer and car so they just park off the pads. It’s sad to see the campgrounds starting into disrepair and I don’t understand why the forest service is not maintaining them like they should.

Reservoir was crystal clear and beautiful. We enjoyed kayaking and paddleboarding every day. There were a lot of dogs, but all were well controlled and quiet.
Our camp host, Dan, was great. He very pleasant and helpful.

Loved the campground and the reservoir. The water was so clear. Just one thing we had issue with was the host. Super nosy and making comments about each and every move of yours something as simple as what are you filling water in pan for. Other than that we had a great time
