About Horse Campground

Horse Camp is located on the eastern shore of the Little Grass Valley Reservoir, giving visitors ample opportunity to fish, swim, boat and enjoy nature. The camp is one of eight campgrounds in the area, but the only one equipped to handle equestrian campers. It provides access to a beautiful, adjacent mountain lake and various hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding trails that meander through the scenic hills and valleys.

What Guests Are Saying

Horse Campground offers a beautiful area for camping with easy access to water and great sites for large groups. Many visitors enjoyed their time and found the campsites suitable for their needs. However, there are some concerns regarding the maintenance of the bathrooms, accessibility for larger vehicles, and the accuracy of GPS directions.

The bathrooms were always out of toilet paper so make sure to bring plenty of your own. This whole campground has really gone down hill in the last few years.

We had such a great time and the campsites are perfect for us. more of a dry camp experience, but close to the water pump and bathroom. The lakes so close it’s a short walk to cool off and play in the water. Thanks for offering a great place for large groups to gather and camp.

Corrals for horses would improve this greatly. My LQ barely made around the circle with 1-2” missing a tree and then posts. LQ 30’ on the flat. Large stacks of wood rounds stacked along either side of road and dumpster made it extremely difficult to swing and back into the site #10. Could see lake through the trees. GPS coordinates inaccurate on reservation site. No camp there. Parked on side of the road for the night. Do not come in from Quincy route, one lane road, bushes scraping the truck and trailer. 10-14+grades with hairpin turns, trail tires in ditch often. On uphills transmission got hot due to severity of grades. Comming in bad enough with Jake brake, leaving toward Quincy would burn out transmission,

Policies & Rules

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
