Point Reyes National Seashore offers four backcountry hike in campgrounds and thirteen boat in campsites along Tomales Bay. Note: For reservation purposes, our campgrounds are organized under the "loop" column of the reservation grid. Such a beautiful time in nature. Because sites are so limited, you feel so special to have the opportunity to be there. The sites are clean and the trails are well maintained. The whales gave us a show and I can't wait to go back!

I’ll definitely be back. I went solo female backpacking and felt very safe here. The campsites up the hill (1-7) provide a lot of privacy which I liked. The stargazing and wildlife viewing are some of my favorite things about Pt. Reyes. I love that coast camp has a beach so close by. Watching the sunset on the massive Eucalyptus tree was the absolute highlight of my trip. I recommend staying there until it gets rather dark and you can see the lights from the fishing boats on the horizon. UGH, I cant wait to try another campground in Pt. Reyes.

This is the perfect easy camping spot. Its just a quick and mild hike in from the trailhead and a halfway point to the coast. This campground has drinkable running water, vault toilets and large bear-proof trash cans. If you're a beginner or want to enjoy an easier trip, this is the spot for you.

Glen Campground was a perfect place for my first solo backpacking trip! It was really nice to have potable water and a vault toilet, and the site was really beautiful with the ferns and firs and a big beautiful live oak.

We had a wonderful time at the Sky Campground, we saw so much incredible wildlife and enjoyed a clear night of stargazing. At Site 12 we could hear the waves crashing at the beach below and enjoyed panoramic views of the Point Reyes Peninsula. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked with toilet paper and the water source (though somewhat hidden by brush when we visited) provided cool, crisp water. We would definitely come back to this campground!

Great area, luckily we were first there so we had our choice of the two spots, the point seems to be the best, but if it was windy may want to be tucked back. High tides make some of the areas pretty small for a large group. Bathrooms and trash accessible and clean. What a fun Birding Man!

Lots of Elk in the area, do not suggest hiking out in the early am. Also, hike is a few miles longer than stated, but stunning beach views at the campsite. Will visit again!

For my husband and I this was the first backpacking trip we had done in several years and since we are both in our seventies, we were hesitant to hike to far. The Bear Valley trail was the perfect trail to take. We chose to hike up meadow trail to Sky camp. This trail is somewhat steep and a little rugged for the first mile or so but does get easier as you reach the sky trail. We appreciated the clean outhouses with toilet paper, the available potable water, and the picnic benches in the campsites. Also the metal secure bear proof cabinets made it easy to keep food away from Ravens, jays, skunks, and raccoons too.. The day hikes were beautiful from there and so were the views. Thanks for maintaining this wonderful natural area!

BACKCOUNTRY HIKE-IN SITE INFORMATION> All sites at Coast, Glen, Sky and Wildcat Camp are Hike-In backcountry sites that require hiking or biking in with camping gear for several miles. > THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO CAMPGROUND FIRES ALLOWED.  > Charcoal use is prohibited, use only gas stoves for cooking.  > Always keep all food or scented items in the provided food lockers.> Possession of a glass container on the water or in a vessel or within 50 feet of any riverbank, lakeshore, beach, on the water or in a vessel is prohibited.> All areas in the park are closed to visitor vehicle parking between the hours of midnight and 6 am with the exception of visitors holding backcountry camping permits may park at established trailheads. Leave a copy of your reservation on the dash of all vehicles associated with camping reservation to serve as a valid parking permit.
TOMALES BAY BOAT-IN INFORMATION> Boat-in sites are ONLY reachable by Boat. ALL Tomales Bay permits require use of a boat, including group sites on Marshall Beach and Tomales Beach. > Boat Launch and vehicle parking for all Boat-In campsites are located outside of the boundaries of the Point Reyes National Seashore.  ! A Wag Bag or portable toilet is required to carry out human waste for all Boat A and Boat B permit holders.   > There is NO potable water on Tomales Bay for Boat-In camping- you must bring your own. > Possession of a glass container on the water or in a vessel or within 50 feet of any riverbank, lakeshore, beach, on the water or in a vessel is prohibited.> Boat-in Amenities: NONE. Except for vault toilets on Marshall Beach and Tomales Beach.> Food Storage: Raccoon- and rodent-proof food storage, such as bear canisters or Kevlar food bags are required.     > Group Site Permit holders at Marshall Beach and Tomales Beach are required to camp only at Marshall or Tomales Beach.    > Marshall Beach allows for two group permits at any one time. Groups 1 and 2 must set up camp in a way that allows room for two parties to be able to share the beach.> Boat A and Boat B Permits are not assigned to specific campsite locations. Crossing Tomales Bay during Small Craft Advisories issued by the National Weather Service can be hazardous. You are responsible for checking safe weather and tide conditions.
