I didn’t pay attention to the size of this campground when I booked. Next time I think I would prefer to book in the smaller portion of the campground further north. We were in the largest section and while it was decently quiet on Wednesday night, Thursday night was extremely loud and chaotic until after 11 PM because of a huge group camping in a number of sites along the river. I don’t think the camp hosts cared much to enforce the rules about noise, at least not until much later after the 10 PM expectation. Lots of trees have been cut down due to the Pine beetle, but we still had a decent amount of shade coverage. Despite being on a hill, there were a couple of spots scraped flat for our large tent and a small two person tent. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked. The access to the river is the best thing about this campground. Numerous access points to sections of the river with beautiful swimming holes. My kids really enjoyed the slicks. We took a drive to one of the reservoirs and enjoyed stopping at McKinley Grove. Very worth the stop. Great short interpretative trail. Was sad to see the amount of logging going on around there, but this is something that’s been happening for many many years. The area is full of rich history which is worth reading about.

We had a wonderful weekend with the family, everything was perfect. The restrooms were very clean, and the designated areas were very spacious. The maintenance service was excellent. I am very grateful for such warm and attentive service.

Excellent spot with a wide open space to the side and on a loop! Great shade. Quick short walk down to water. Highly recommend.

The Dinkey Creek campsite is well maintained and the nearby swimming holes are lovely. The only reason for the 3 stars is because the camp sites are huge. Basically every campsite is a group site which leads to an overall loud camping experience. Our first night there people were loud until 2am. The second night only until 11pm. I think its a great spot if you are group camping but if you are looking for true solitude you may want to stay somewhere else.

Campsite was spacious and clean. All staff were friendly and engaging and efficient.

It’s an incredibly beautiful place if you’re into extreme hikes and adventuring. The campsites are also gorgeous and have a distinct vanilla/butterscotch/citrus smell of ponderosa pines.

Very nice area for the campground among the trees and it was handy to have pay showers and a store nearby. Also there were flush toilets near our campsite. The road thru the campground has many large potholes which need repair.
Access to Sequoias grove, Cartwright Lake, Dinkey Lakes and Shaver Lake restaurants was the best part..

We have camped up there for over 40 years. We have a trailer and I entered in all the appropriate information when booking a site. We had site 99, which was terrible for trailers. We could not put our trailer in that site and there were many empty sites available. The host told us it was impossible to trade sites. Really?!! We had to purchase another site. Thankfully once we got home, we were refunded but it was a frustrating experience when the host could do nothing to help us when there were sites available.
That seems like a policy that needs to be changed. The host should have the ability to help the people that they are serving. This was an unpleasant beginning of our vacation that had been long awaited. Recreation.org should trust their employees enough to make good decisions for the guests. Sometimes polices need to have exceptions in prefer to offer good customer service.

Camp hosts were exceptional. It couldn't have been better.
