Nice cabin, but heater did not work and it was down to freezing at night! Camp host got us a space heater the second day, but would have been much more comfortable with main heater working.

Make sure to Get to the cabin well before dark. The cabins are very poorly labeled, and finding them after sunset could be difficult.
Showers cost $5 per use, which wasn’t listed on the page. Gas is available at the camp store, and there are pit toilets. There is no cell service is very limited
Make sure to bring headlamps, flashlights, or lanterns, especially if you plan to be outside after dark.
The area itself is beautiful, but the drive up was very unsettling. A shift that I can’t explain but there was an unsettling shift when driving up the ridge to shingletown. The in the area before reaching Lassen Volcanic National Park. So offsetting that I sent my husband a message to let him know, we were debating heading back to 1-5. I have traveled alone with my kids for 20 years and never felt the need to leave an area. I am actually very glad I didn’t read the local history until after our visit, because I think knowing it beforehand would have made the drive and our experience even more unnerving.
Overall, it’s a beautiful and remote area, but definitely arrive before dark and come prepared for a very rustic experience. This was one of 8 nationals parks we visited. And beautiful area in the park, but one of the few places we will not be returning to visit.

The cabins were super clean and have heaters! I wish all parks had cabins like these! There was a cold snap over Labor Day weekend so we were super thankful for the heaters. Manzanita lake is beautiful!

We had a wonderful time at Manzanita cabins. It was our first trip to Lassen Volcanic Park. Our cabin was very clean and comfortable, and it was close to the beautiful lake. The people working at the camp store were so friendly and helpful.

Cabins are wonderful - plenty of windows and a great little porch to sit on if the weather turns.

Everything was great overall. Lamps were not provided like they had been in the past. Fortunately, I brought my own lamps. Other than that, everything was very good, and we enjoyed our stay.

Everything was great overall. The only issue was that one of the windows in the cabin had a lot of cobwebs, and the blinds were broken and wouldn’t close properly, so you could see inside from outside. Also, lamps were not provided like they had been in the past. Fortunately, I brought my own lamps. Other than that, everything was very good, and we enjoyed our stay.
