About Grouse Valley Cabins

***Grouse Valley is closed for rehabilitation through at least the 2022 and 2023 seasons***  Grouse Valley is located in the Giant Sequoia National Monument within Sequoia National Forest. The facility is a complex of two cabins; the Lakeside Cabin and the Hillside Cabin. The Lakeside Cabin is the largest of the two and can accommodate up to 12 people. The Hillside Cabin accommodate up to 10 people. The property is nestled in an open scenic valley, which contains two lakes surrounded by pine and oak trees and a few small fruit and nut orchards. The serenity and open space provided at Upper Grouse presents visitors with a rare opportunity to enjoy the Sequoia National Forest apart from the traditional campground experience.

The area in Grouse Valley was beautiful and the cabins have so much potential. Unfortunately there were a few issues that could be easily remedied to make the experience better. The deck around the cabin is in need of repair, especially in the rear as it sagged heavily under the weight of a person. Also most window screens had holes in them or were missing and made it difficult to open them to let cool air in. Inside the cabin there were rodent droppings EVERYWHERE. There is a rodent issue that needs to be addressed (which probably caused the holes in the screens). Lastly, upon arriving to the cabins there were trash cans full of rotting trash from the previous tenants. This also most likely made the rodent issue worse as there were clear signs of animals going through the trash.
