Campsite was trashed when we arrived:
Old cardboard box with firewood, old socks, food rests wrapped in aluminum in the fire pit, potatoes lying around.
Men’s bathroom closed, replaced by 5 construction toilets. No opportunity to wash up, shower, wash hands.
No personnel or check in.
Not a great experience, we left a day early.

The view was terrific! We definitely would camp here again after going to Sequoia National Park. The lake water seemed clean and clear although we did not do any water activities. My five year old enjoyed watching the bunnies and lizards that were hiding in the rocks by our site. Everyone was friendly from the other campers to the ranger. Each space was clearly marked with the reservation. There shouldn’t be any confusion as some had mentioned.
I would rate this experience as “Excellent”, yet there were a few things that could be improved. The restrooms were not open. Portable toilets were available. My son had never been in one, and he was surprised by how clean it was. But it was still not ideal. Our space, although very roomy, was covered with small rocks all over. We brought an air mattress that helped. It would be difficult to sleep with just a mat. There were many spaces next to us that did not have this issue. There was also no coverage on our space. We didn’t think this would be a problem when warned in the booking. We were wrong. The sun was brutal.
The fixable issues were all minor things versus the amazing view, tranquillity, and proximity to Sequoia National Park. We all enjoyed our experience and would return to Horse Creek.

The camp sites were far enough away from each other that noisy neighbors weren't an issue. We saw rabbits and water birds. At 3am we heard some coyotes and some cows (they didnt wake us we just happened to be awake). The ranger said there were rattlesnakes around so be mindful but we didnt see any on our walks. Our campsite had a table with a cover structure which is a great feature. I really enjoyed this site and hope to return
