I have camped at many dozens of campgrounds for hundreds of nights throughout the United States and Canada west of the Rockies, including Alaska. The campground hosts, including Elma and her husband, and Barbara, at William Kent Campground are among the very best I have encountered anywhere. They are super friendly, very knowledgeable, and very helpful in providing tips to make my outdoor adventures in the area special and memorable. The best part of the William Kent Campground are the hosts. I wish all campground hosts were as great as the ones at William Campground.
I deducted one star because of the several nights of black bears roaming the campground and the very small beach access to Lake Tahoe.

We were in site #72 which is nice and large with lots of privacy. Several l bears sightings but they are nothing more than a nuisance. Verizon reception was very poor while T-Mobile was excellent.

Beautiful, peaceful location EXCEPT: fellow campers need to take bears seriously. I saw two campers get their campsites tossed by bears, both during daylight hours, both because of open bear boxes. The heart rending cry of "Not my backpack dude!" as a large bear calmly and methodically ripped the pack to bits in front of its owner will long remain in my memory. But the camp is like wilderness with a store, deli and restaurant and pebbly Tahoe beach on the other side of the highway. The walkable restaurant Spoons is superb.

For those people with RVs or trailers, you will need extra blocks in multiple site to level.
The bike paths are well maintained and go into the towns close by. Pickleball at the local park down the street. Open play is Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9 AM to 11.

One of the best campgrounds I’ve been to! The hosts were super kind and the location cannot be beat. It was fun to be walking distance to a market, restaurants, the beach, a marina, and Lake Tahoe! Can’t wait to return.

- Please Note: One vehicle per single site. Most sites can accommodate 1 extra vehicle that is not included with the reservation fee. Extra vehicles will be charged a per night fee and collected at the campground. Yurt fee includes one vehicle.
- All campers must register with camp host. Using the pre-check in will require you to check in with the campground office upon arrival.
- Forest Order No. 19-15-01: Prohibits camping for a combined total of no more than 14 days during a calendar year (January-December), forest-wide. Visitors may book campsites annually but the maximum stay may not exceed a total of 14 days each calendar year (January-December).
- Bears frequent the area; use appropriate food storage containers
- Off-road vehicles are prohibited in the campground
- Chainsaw use and hunting are prohibited in the area
- Limit of two pets per campsite; pets are not allowed on the beaches. Pets are not allowed inside Yurts.
- Please keep boats clean, drained and dry, to avoid transport or introduction of aquatic invasive species
- Maximum of six people per site and 1 RV per site.
- Using the pre-check in will require you to check in with the campground office upon arrival.
- Fire restrictions may be imposed at any time due to hot, dry weather conditions, at which time campfires and charcoal fires may not be allowed. For current fire conditions or weather closures click here Fire Information
- Reserved Sites will be held until the day following your arrival date. Sites must be occupied by the checkout time of that following day to hold a reservation or the site will be forfeited and released to other guests.
- Don't Move Firewood: Protect California's forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. For more information visit firewood.ca.gov.
