About Meeks Bay Resort

NO PETS ARE ALLOWED ANYWHERE AT THE RESORT! Meeks Bay Resort has a long tradition as a family vacation and holiday retreat. It is located on western shore of the famed Lake Tahoe (Da ow aga), far away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The Washoe Tribe has been a part of the Meeks Bay area of Lake Tahoe (Da ow aga) for many millenium. Their link to the land is an important part of the Meeks Bay Resort charm. It is the perfect spot to recharge those drained reserves and immerse oneself in the spectacular rustic environment.    Enjoy the sandy Meeks Bay beach, or rent a kayak or paddle board and venture out onto blue waters. Explore the hiking trails that lead both north and south along the lake as well as the Meeks Bay Trail which climbs into the Sierra Nevada Desolation Wilderness Area to Phipps Pass and beyond. For more details download the document available from the US Forestry Service.   The Resort has abundant Day-Use parking and a grill for the hungry camper. Stop by the main building for supplies, toys and clothes, and perhaps a chat with one of the Washoe Tribe members.  The resort offers all levels of vacation facilities from the historic Kehlet Mansion and the Washoe House, several cabins and lodges, full hookup RV spots, and standard tent campsites. Many couples have begun their wedded life together and families regularly hold their reunions at the Resort. Group reservations can be made on Recreation.gov or by phone to the call center.   Meeks Bay Campground is now an integral part of the Meeks Bay Resort. NO PETS ARE ALLOWED ANYWHERE AT THE RESORT!

We have camped at Meeks Bay Resort for over 30 years in our travel trailer. Unfortunately, the staff no longer monitors the number of people using the beach. This is the most crowded we have seen the beach. We camped for a week in July and never saw a staff person at the check-in station to control the number of day use people from coming in. The overcrowding from day use people continues to get worse every year.

They cut off the power supply to the electric plugs in and around the bathrooms so we couldn't boil water with our electric kettles, make rice with the small portable rice cooker, or charge the batteries. They should have warned us of this beforehand. Also, many peole are placing their canopies and chairs and equipment on the beach all night long so that here are limited spaces in the morning. Are there no rules against this?

The 2 stars are for clean showers and beach access. Other than that, this is just a big asphalted parking lot with no privacy whatsoever. People walking right past your car/tent/table, there was someone going around stealing phones. $70 per might here was not justified. Unfortunately will not return.

We had such a wonderful time at Meeks Bay! The setting is absolutely beautiful—crystal-clear water, a sandy beach, and incredible Lake Tahoe views right outside your door. It felt like the perfect balance of relaxing and fun, with plenty of room to swim, enjoy the beach, and spend time outside.

The location is hard to beat, and the whole area feels peaceful, scenic, and well cared for. It was a memorable Tahoe trip, and we’re so grateful to have experienced such a special spot. We would happily return and definitely recommend Meeks Bay to anyone looking for a beautiful place to enjoy Lake Tahoe.

Thank you to everyone who helps keep this place such a gem!

The room was clean and in excellent condition. Overall the whole area was really wonderful. Crystal clear water, beach, activities, so many things to list. We had a great time and wished to stay longer.

Disappointed there was a Yoga and Wellness retreat that blasted loud music Thursday to Sunday . It disturbed all the Meeks Bay clients .

Great experience, the park keepers are very helpful , the only inconvenience in the south campground is that the showers are too far from this campground, but definitely for me it’s a place to come back next year, “BE BEAR AWARE” a lot of bear activity in the campground.

Amazing stay and customer service. Upon arrival our fridge didn't work. We notified the front desk and they sent someone down on a Friday night after 6. He stayed for quite a while trying to fix it and when it could t be fixed they gave us ice and swapped out for a new fridge the next morning. The rest of the visit was very pleasant. Lodge 12 is connected to other rooms on the row and you can hear the people next door. Luckily for us the kids/parents went to bed around 9:30pm. One thing that would be good is if outside lights would shut off after 10, as it makes it difficult to sit outside and see the stars. We definitely will be back again!

It rained, it started immediately after we set up camp, and this is obviously not the campsites fault. however, the entire campsite and neighboring sites drain into this one and it was a swamp within just a short time. We could not stay, there was no dry ground and our stuff was underwater. We packed up in ankle deep water and left before sundown on the first night.
