If Yosemite can control its Bear population, for the safety of the campers, Meeks Bay Campground should also have a more proactive Bear Policy.

This is a beautiful, well-maintained campground with spacious sites, clean restrooms; right on the beach.

The campsite and lake access were great! Bathrooms were pretty close to most campsites as were the dumpsters. Downside the showers are all the way in the resort area so we didn’t check them out. Also we arrived to the campsite at 4 pm and there was no one available to check us in or ask about our beat box that seemed to not close properly. We arrived inalámbrico a Tuesday afternoon so I don’t know it if is normal for them not to be there at that time. The next morning I went to check in and the lady was rather rude, handing me parking passes that were not mine (had wrong name on them and dates of stay) and lecturing me about the beatbox not closing properly . Mind you we had no one to ask and closed it the best we could with the latch it had. She said maintenance would take a look at it when he had time. When maintenance came he looked at it, closed it, and said “that’s as good as it’s going to get.” Thankfully no bears got into it, but still, it was all rather unprofessional. Other than those encounters, the space was great.

Lodge 8 has an amazing location and was very comfortable. Tiny kitchen and bathroom, but big great room and bedroom. Comfortable beds. Nice big dirt patio right on the lake. Spectacular views from livingroom. Missing some screens, wish there had been another couch or more seating in livingroom, and very active bears in car area. Kitchen was well stocked. We really had a great time and would stay again!

I booked spaces 4 and 5 at Meek Bay Resort North, but they gave me spaces 4 and 5 at the South location instead. The parking spots there only fit one car—even though they tell you two are fine—only for them to later come around yelling at you to move. I do not recommend this place at all.

Chipmunk cabin was great! Clean, comfortable and a great view. Nice indoor dining and a picnic table right outside the front door. Great for families. It’s probably not the same kitchen you have at home but definitely functional. We’re coming back!

Beautiful setting, cabin 21 faced the bay and beach was wide and sandy. Bears came every day so take the advice seriously to empty your car of all scented things and of course food. We brought food so didn’t try the snack shack. Beach rentals of SUP and floats available. So peaceful in evenings once day trippers leave, the sunsets are gorgeous! Next time we’ll stay longer, but bring all you need with you, it’s a long way to the store.
